Re: Rikers

People like twisted should rule the World, unconditional inclusive ideals. And as according to Nth's post GU is to be played on a Global stage. However Rikers is Euro vs NA If we can not find a way to be inclusive and accepting of everyone then we are segregating which is extremely detrimental. My v...

Re: Rikers

Correct me if I'm wrong here Ken but isn't Rikers Cup based on 'Ryders Cup' the Golf tournament between the European players vs NA players? If so, then the point of inclusion for the rest of the World exists in Ryders Cup. Players outside of the European zone have been selected to play in the Ryders...

Re: Restructure

Sure Connie. 'Back to basics' was my comment. I'm a capitalist, so I look at things using business models and their efficiencies or lack thereof. I was using the discussion borne from the Rikers thread as a stepping off point. The objectives raised from that thread in brief; Leadership, communicatio...

Restructure

Following on from the Rikers thread, last post end of January 2014, through the various points discussed some thoughts were offered about a few problems the GU League faces; Leadership Communication with players Decisions in a timely manner Unless I'm mistaken, we haven't heard a peep from the Counc...

Re: Debate: Who gets to report

The problem of access by many players entering matches is not just the matches they enter but they then have access to alter matches already entered. It would be a huge undertaking to add a large number of players to the group. Agree with kierra, the simplest solution is to add a few more refs, not ...

Re: Debate: Who gets to report

Is now a good time to mention in the last 6 months a couple of team Captains were plotting to enter false matches ???

Least number of people enter least number of hassles.
Or does someone want to volunteer to check every report for accuracy?

Re: Riker’s Winter Cup 2014 North America vs Europe/Asia????

Blast, I never promoted an assumption the thread was read by an GU Admin, I asked for a signature. So once the thread has been read by an individual, make it compulsory for each individual to sign off as read, so you all know at least who has read it, example Rikers thread Bullet Catcher read, Firin...

Re: Riker’s Winter Cup 2014 North America vs Europe/Asia????

Blast, What happens under the present system after an issue has been read and no comments by the reader have been offered into the discussion? So lets carry that forward, under a time constraint, hypothetically 10 admins have all read it, no opinions but only 1 vote has been recorded as a yes, need ...

Re: Riker’s Winter Cup 2014 North America vs Europe/Asia????

The current decision making model for want of a better word is inadequate. As players we don't fully know how decisions are agreed upon if they are not voted on given there is no Leader/Chairman to direct or request 'a vote is now required' on an issue. Through trial and error the Council should be ...

Re: Riker’s Winter Cup 2014 North America vs Europe/Asia????

That's the whole point blast there is no abstaining, there is no non committal vote, some may be away for a month they vote proxy, they can't decide so vote proxy.
Therefore there should be no delays.

4. GU Council formulates a position on each item, votes on each item by a majority decision within 7 days, absentee votes count as a yes unless they have offered their vote as a proxy to another Council member.

Re: Riker’s Winter Cup 2014 North America vs Europe/Asia????

best vs best either it is best vs best or it isn't best vs best make up your mind. The fundamental concept of rikers is Euro vs NA and best vs best Non qualifying players from countries outside these zones are envious but we do understand the greater pool of players come from both these regions, he...

Re: Riker’s Winter Cup 2014 North America vs Europe/Asia????

Skill level will always be an inherently subjective issue, so if a captain selects his team based on his evaluation of each player's skill, and that evaluation does not agree with your own, that is not bending the rules… that is simply a judgement call that you disagree with. So your suggesting the...

Re: Riker’s Winter Cup 2014 North America vs Europe/Asia????

It's not about who won or didn't win, for example do you think those in Australia or New Zealand care who won? Rikers' as one old pro said to me was the GU highlight of his year , the pinnacle when players who had earned the right with skill did some amazing things. Did NA play the best 10 players a...

Re: Riker’s Winter Cup 2014 North America vs Europe/Asia????

That's fantastic that it's okay to bend a couple of rules just to accommodate someone close enough that doesn't lag to be too much of a concern this time around. One would hate the thought of making BZ global, is that what your saying? For the record there have been a number of protests about it, on...

Re: A new matching variant for GU league

Maybe some players have not noticed it yet, but gu league and leagues in general are on the verge of extinction. It is true that there are matches played, sometims many matches. But look who plays them: just a few, heavy playing players keep the regular teams afloat. This guy, zac, without him, Fir...

Re: A new matching variant for GU league

I want to reflect on a couple of points for the moment 2 Only see this benefiting active teams to match, so becomes a points grab for the more active teams. (Frank the Tank) The intention is to have more official matches and less waiting time. So yes, active teams will get more matches and the chanc...

Re: A new matching variant for GU league

Sorry red, I oppose the idea within the GU League. If it ain't broke don't fix it!! Some reasons why not; 1. Other leagues created, bz soccer, hix maps with flags etc all failed. Novel at first but then the novelty wears off. 2 Only see this benefiting active teams to match, so becomes a points grab...

Re: Additional Official Match option

We actually thought whomever wrote this rule was rather very clever. They clearly avoided saying team numbers had to be of equal or unequal numbers. Instead they said at least 2 . In other words no less than 2 players on either team, period. There are rules in place for when a team is forced to have...

Re: Additional Official Match option

This is not a new rule or an option it is and has always been permitted in the framework of the rules. Q: Is a 1 vs 1 match an official match in the GU league? A: No. Each team must have at least 2 players for the match to be official. It is good of the GU League Council to Publicly make Teams more ...

Regarding the Autobahn analogy. Drivers on the autobahn should not be expected to follow the U.S. Highway code. Regarding the Sporting analogy, rules are "bent" by referees using such methods such as "playing the advantage" in order to keep the game flowing and enjoyable. FS the autobahn on BZ is m...

Re: 20 minute matches? Your feedback please

Unfortunately I have to agree with Chris on this one. I have seen & been in so many matches where a Team has come from behind to draw or win a match in the last 10 minutes. I wouldn’t want to end up in a situation where this becomes a game of speed & determined by how many caps can be made at pace. ...
