Looking for testers of a networking tech demo

I am looking for some people to test a technology demonstrator for more a traditional multiplayer networking setup. This is not a version of BZFlag, it is a different program built upon a completely different technology stack, but it still involves driving around and shooting stuff. I have made a do...

Re: What was attractive about this game?

Yes, it's simply an example showing how easy multi-player games are to make when using the right engine.

Re: What was attractive about this game?

Nope, but the art style is similar. That's from a functional multiplayer test app, with a mock up GUI. It s playable but not pretty

oh god no. It's based on blind trust and 1985 networking ideas.

It's a LAN game that some fool put on the internet.

Re: Security Whitepaper on BZFlag?

Here is a youtube video that illustrates BZFlag's overall networking structure and security model.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZcNXe20dXI

it should have the same value as several long whitepapers.

Re: SourceForge is now bundling adware without dev permissio

The bzflag development team has not finished doing it's SVN to Git conversion, so there is no one repository to put the bins on.

I would talk to them about it in IRC

There hasn't been a release so no bins

If youv'e found the place in the code where it picks a target, then just update that code to check the carried flag and ignore the target. The bots are very dumb.

User Survey

So I am looking to get some information about how you all play this little game we have here in order to help guide future development/projects. To help with that I have created a short survey form that I'd like to ask all of you to fill out. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/19rrDJPXOZVD0kbGQ_tpFjcIn...

Re: Bzflag won't launch in the latest Ubuntu 14.xx

it is more then likely your video driver setup, this usually happens on linux upgrades where the default drivers do not know how to change the fullscreen video mode. I'd make sure you are running the best drivers for your system. You can also try running bzflag in a window to be sure that the fullsc...

Re: Airstrike plug-in question/problem

I added functionality to the api so that plugins can just ask the server for a shot ID and not step on other plugins. They don't need to communicate they just need to work with any arbitrary shot ID and keep a map for scoring instead of trying to encode the player in the shot. It's not hard if you w...

Re: Access to Player's Overall History Statistics

BZFlag was not designed for internet play, so it lacks many of the expected features of modern online games. Game servers are privately run, and there is no global messaging system, so we do not have access to chat data. We do keep records from the authentication system since that is something we run.

Re: Airstrike plug-in question/problem

The game itself does not have support for "extra" shots from players like these plug-ins use. These plug-ins fake it by using world weapon shots that are just set to a specific color. These shots are attributed to the server and do not automatically adjust anyone's score. Many of these plug-ins atte...

Re: Access to Player's Overall History Statistics

The project itself does not record player performance data. Some servers do but I do not know of any that do so over multiple sessions.

The third party site, http://bzstats.strayer.de/ polls data from servers and builds up some statistics. Due to it's polling nature there may be gaps in the data.

Re: Why are there only like 30 people playing BZFLAG at one

You must be root or SUDO in order to run make install. Just being in the bzflag folder will not run the bin in that folder unless you define a path, typing just bzflag will run the one installed in on the system. You may want to re-read the readme file that came with the source code.
