donwtime

There's probably gonna be a tad bit of downtime this weekend. Finaly got some new hardware for the webserver and I need to install it. (better then I thought too, 1.3 gig P4 with 512 megs of Rambus). So I need to move the drive over to the new server. Once the move is done page generation times shou...

yeah it helps to have them defined around 0, but you could have done 2 tranlsataions and a rotation to let it rotate around a difrent point, just a bit more math.

there is no way to specify a world from the internal "start server" command in BZ. you have to start a server manualy, ether with the command line, or a shortcut or batch file if you are on windows. If your on windows there are some preinstalled shortcuts in the bzflag start menu entry that show how...

glTranslatef is your friend :)

glPushMatrix();
glTranslatef(0,0,fHowFarUpIWant);
DrawMyThing();
glPopMatrix();

facing the wall is an actual desing feature, it trys to spawn you in the safest spot for you and team mates. It has been discussed that yes this indeed stucks. As soon as G2 is out, the server will most likely calculate all spawn points and send them to the client. Then reasonable spawns can be calu...

I am looking at ColDet as well. It is full GPL and seems decent enough. Tho having it do BZ style suportive collisions seems to be interesting ( but dooable ). The bigest problem I'm seeing in my "how to put arbitrary models in maps" is geting them to work properly with BZS lighing structre. The cur...

that may be for the boxes, but there are no glColor3() calls in the tank code. And that is what would be required to have hardcoded (or burned in ) lighing on a per vertex level. Looking at the current code, it uses a single light source and does normal shading. Now the light source is static when l...

no that just draws the 3 points on top of the tank that look like running lighs ( you can tell by the GL_POINTS part of the glBegin function ), I don't think there are any precomputed lights in the code. I think when you turn lighting off it just uses the normals with a single light source, and dosn...

Yes it's is the normals that tell OpenGL what direction each face ( or vert on that face) is pointing. THis lets the system calculate how much light hits that face, and altering it's color. The normals must point out for this to work right. If you are puting your models in code you need to call the ...

Yes the lighting is done in OpenGL. No lighting can be done in the model itself since you can't know what direction the tank will be facing when you model it.

BZ is a game not a chat room, it's meant to be played. I personaly think that complaing about geting killed while typing is kinda lame. You should kow that it will happen when you enter the game ( you know all the bullets wizzing around). This may actualy make people look to kill you when you are ty...

*** Important "INVALID USERANME CAN'T LOG IN PROBLEM&am

Some people are having issuees login in, and get a "Invalid username or password" message. Seems that when the cookie name for the site changed but the site name didn't changed most systems that use IE and it's password managment get screwed up, they send bad info. To fix this I just need to reset y...

Also on a note. The email address and mailserver the board uses has changed. So if anyone of you had poked holes in your personal anti-spam firewalls for the address, you will probably have to change it. All messages from the board will come from bzbbadmin@artemisgames.com. and come from mail.artemi...

Board has moved.

Well if your reading this then the board has moved. The board is now hosted on bzbb.bakadigital.com. the old bzbb.homelinux.org address will still get you here, but we want to stop using it, as it may go the way of the dodo in the future. Some notes on the move: You will know you are on the new boar...
