Re: 1st official pillbox league pick-up contest!
I think the main reason the tournament "didn't work," even though I'm sure it would have if given a little more time, was the positioning. I know that personally I've had one event after another come up during the holidays and a few days after New Years. Perhaps we could consider reviving this a lit...

Re: Callsign Choosing
I picked mine while playing the ducati style servers back in the 1.x versions. Everybody was really good and I was new to ducati. So I became a "wannabe" in attempts to catch them in scores. :-) Perhaps an activity you're involved with? Favorite animals? Heh... secret agent names? :| Dunno, really. ...

Re: Language Spoiling The Experience
Well, if certain players enjoy the atmosphere at Planet M, that's entirely up to them. As mentioned, it is correct, server owners have the right to allow or disallow language and be lenient or very strict about it. As for this: People who have such a big problem with language are an overrepresented ...

Re: Language Spoiling The Experience
Aren't we being just a little self-righteous? As people have explained already, servers are privately run and owners can set rules as they please. Client-side filtering is probably your best option. What exactly makes you the type of player that the game "needs"? What puts you in a position to make...

Re: Help with map
On relatively open maps, small patches (or "forests") of pyramids are sometimes helpful. It helps to break up the monotony a bit when you're driving for long distances. Typically, there are a lot of tall, thin pyramids... or a few fat, short ones. I think that would help you a little bit, but you're...

It is a bug... but it doesn't really affect gameplay all that dramatically. Especially in any negative way.

Re: why genocide on ctf maps?
Alright, people say Genocide makes people go after personal gain far too much, and detracts attention from capturing flags. Bottom line is, Rabbit Hunt, Capture the Flag, and Free For All servers... every single one... people go for personal gain. That's why people play online games. I understand th...

I enjoy playing with the majority of players who have posted here and a whole lot more... specifics, I couldn't really say.
You're all way too awesome, lol.

Re: BZFlag in ESL (Electronic Sports League)
I highly doubt that it would be easy to get involved in ESL, but it's worth a try I suppose, if the top-bz-peoples think it's a good idea. It would definitely bring more people to the game...

Re: Language Spoiling The Experience
It saddens me that all the effort, dedication, hard work and money put into bzflag and the servers is spoiled by the increasing use of bad language. I consider myself to be one of the better players because I never curse, call people idiots, morons, J..A.. or worse. Score wise I am a terrible playe...

Re: RikerCup January 2009
For what it's worth, I'd say a match in the month of January, and then another in July. The cycle continues. Every six months, we match! :-) In 2010, we'd have another Riker. Plus, we'd get one more this year. Similarly to what beanpole and slime said, I think if we made it every three or four month...

dexii can u post the names of the two teams when they are picked? In general, I think the teams are just referred to as either the "European" or the "American" team. Perhaps, rather than trying to set up an impossible five hundred player server... create some new maps and get your friends interested in the game. Every individual player could easily take part in doubling our BZCommunity if this "decline" bothers you so much. :-) Setting up a five hundred player s...

Don't play in the pillbox league. It's nasty. Absolutely nasty. In case you want to try it out, the website is http://pillbox.bzleague.com :P If you're new to the game, the pillbox style is an excellent way to learn dodging, teamwork, etc. Find GU or Ducati to work on more complex dodging and ricoc...

Obviously, players should never teamkill for the "greater good" of their team. Hunting a new player on your own team is up to you, but I wouldn't do it. Don't overcomplicate things. In both team bases there are Super Bullet flags and Shock Wave flags. With some careful planning and teamwork, Genocid...
