Re: Plugin Request Thread

I have been through three mutations of "progressive flag mode". The last one was pretty good, the only problem was lost or late packets might occasionally cause zapped flags to not reach their intended destination. If you would like to take another stab at it I would like to talk to you on IRC, beca...

Re: Shoot through pyramids

I'm guessing you want to make a pyramid that you can drive into, and then stay inside of it, while shooting out. Like on MoFo Passion. A BZW-style pyramid object will never do what you want. The pentamids I made on MoFo Passion are actually four separate objects. 3 of them are invisible. It can be d...

Re: GM Following WW

There's an API for GMs now, so it's probably possible to do this now without the hackish code.

Re: GM Following WW

This is the "missiles" plugin of which Eoncho speaks. It's kinda hackish. Was for 2.0.8 ?? I think it should compile under 2.4 without changes. It has NOT BEEN TESTED with Version 2.4. http://git.norang.ca/?p=bzflag/bzflag.git;a=tree;f=bzflag/plugins/missles;h=7d3f086c479f2aa9652745571fb7b093cab2192...

Re: Spawn Facing the Center

A while ago KTL helped me with that steamroller race plugin. We had it using a custom map object where players would spawn facing any chosen direction.
Would be maybe useful to see that broken out as a separate plugin.

Re: Night textures

in my experience, I've never gotten -synctime to work. I even tried tricks that I saw Trepan use, (when I used /saveworld on his maps), like -synctime 7777. -synclocation is new to me. Is it new to 2.4 ? I always set -latitude and -longitude. If someone does get this to work, I'd be interested to kn...

Re: Night textures

I think this is definitely possible with ridiculously long timing (period) of an alpha channel sequence in a pair of dynamic colors. Similar to the MoFo billboards. However, clients determine the day/night time, not servers, so you never know when the player's client will be in day or night. Now.. I...

Re: How does DrawInfo working

You can also convert obj to BZFlag drawinfo using modeltool. Modeltool is a utility to convert any obj format file to the bzw format, with or without drawinfo. It is available through SVN (found in the tools directory), and is officially supported by the bzflag developers. Modeltool will be able to ...

Bigger, Badder, Babel

I had the idea to take the map Grassroots by Babel, increase the size of everything by a factor of 7 to 5, and increase the tank speed to 35. I might decrease shot range a little, but everything else will be exactly the same. Will use the on-capture shockwaves currently used at openleague. Do you th...

This represents about 90 minutes work, {after trashing a first draft} Currently only 276 polygons, i figure 750 polys would be the maximum you'd be able to use. I tried to keep the various parts separate, so they can be blown apart on explode. Textures would make a big difference. Before i continue,...

Re: Matref zone_ground

The texture matrix is completely separate from the physics. There are many options and you can try to match the texture movement to your physics. Maybe shift will be a better option for you than fixedscale. textureMatrix name example_texmat # scale 0.0 0.0 1.0 1.0 # u/v freqs, u/v scales #spin 0.0 #...

Re: BZFlag 2.4.0 Beta Program

A few months ago, I upgraded my SDL, and compilation promptly broke. I had to revert my SDL version. Are we staying with the older SDL? Configure tells me that SDL 1.3 is required, but compile proceeds with the older version. From a fresh checkout, ./configure. checking for SDL framework... no check...
