No matter if you did the /flag reset r*|etc. or /flag reset unused, you'd get fussed at. People just hate admins resetting flags when they feel like they're about to capture. That may be true, but is it really relevant? Sure, someone who isn't paying attention may suddenly see an opponent's team fl...

2.1 does all flag gives and pickups on the server. ID dosn't have to be removed, we just changed it so that the server tells you what the closest flag is, not where it is. All the flags on the field have the same type. Say, I got to thinking, with all of these new things being handled by the server...

The only flag resets that we do at MissileWar are /flag reset unused, and that's when a base is totally out of flags, or when somebody asks us to. If you would like, we could stop doing this. I will talk to 1st about the flag reset bot. True, although /flag reset r*|g*|b*|p* was useful for when the...

Yes, you can specify it like: ./bzfs -p 5154 -publicaddr your.server.com:5154 -conf main.conf ./bzfs -p 5155 -publicaddr your.server.com:5155 -conf main.conf although I doubt that you want completely identical servers on multiple ports, so you'd probably want more options. Alternatively, you can uti...

Re: Castle Wars

Also I am looking out for some cops and admins. Oooo, hard to find people willing to serve in that capacity. ;-) More seriously, the approach I suggest you take is to watch for a while to see which players are the most dedicated and experienced in administration, and rewarding them with cop/adminsh...

Course, sometimes a noob would burn through all the flags, but I thought I could call a flagreset, so it must be something with the bot that's preventing it from being called GraceF. /flag reset unused requires a different permission than /flag reset r*|g*|b*|p* i.e. FLAGMASTER vs. FLAGMOD. Unless ...

If you make them really small (not too many, so as not to degrade graphics performance), and set _maxBumpHeight to an applicable setting, and the tank could climb right up (with full control).

No, we can not remove world objects, after the server has started. BZFlag uses a static world, once the world is finalized, that's it, nothing can move, nothing can be added, and nothing can be removed. Aw, but that would be really cool... is this completely out of the picture, or is it a possibili...

I had a screenshot with 20,000-1 (again thanks to my MacBook), but unfortunately that one death disqualified that one from this thread. :-P I should set a forum for scores like that but...1 is close to 0 so it doesnt realy matter :) :P Well then, if you insist... http://my.bzflag.org/bb/files/reall...

Re: Ugh...

Before the doors were covered, at least there was some CTF'ing going on regularly. Yes, there was laser camping from across the map whenever a team was capped. True, although in my experience CTF play is still a big part of playing there. You just have to talk to your team and make a team effort to...

My nice new MacBook was able to handle all these bots quite easily. :-) On a private bot server i had 1000-0 or some...

While we're at it, the "," key will by default open a send private message line pointed at the last person who killed you, or, if you team killed someone, it points at them. Quite handy to send those SRY! and NP! messages back and forth without cluttering up the chat channel. Also if you ...

Yeah, good point. I would ensure that you don't have audio turned off in the audio settings, then try throwing your config file out.

Using -userdb is a good idea anyway, so you can use /setgroup. I agree that -passdb isn't a great idea, though... just use the global registration system if you can.

Not to dampen anybody's enthusiasm for hosting servers, but we already have like double as many servers as players. Wouldn't most people prefer a higher quality of server (with more players) than having more servers on the list (with more maps, but few or no players)?

Good idea, but the setup fee is a bit much, and the more "professional" server owners would almost definitely want SSH access, and probably at least 200MB of space for logs and recordings.

Check your world file. I'm not sure exactly how it has to be set up, but I think the client is rather picky about the world files you use when you start the server up within the client.

Running a bzflag server on Windows generally isn't recommended, at least from what I hear. I think they're are a lot of problems with the setup.
