You join the game in observer mode from the bzflag client, switch to "Roaming" mode, then use the arrow keys together with shift and ctrl to change the angle of the camera.

I could try and start something in PHP for a kind of overhead map... I'd have problems doing something in 3D, though. I'd think that an easier way would be a mod to the bzflag source code. Most of the rendering work is already done, and I'm guessing it would just require a little tweaking. Thoughts?

Automated screenshots

Anyone have an idea of how difficult it would be to create a script/program that automatically created a screenshot of a bzflag world file? The script, ideally, would take such arguments as: input world .bzw, output file name, camera orientation, etc. I thought this would be really cool for creating...

Yes, /poll set _shockOutRadius 40 should work. However, I've also noticed that it doesn't work correctly on some servers. Not sure what the problem is.

lets see..1510 deaths * 5 seconds for each self-destruct..is 7550 seconds..about 126 minutes..just over 2 hours. wow. If he was using self-destruct, you would need to count the amount of time that it takes to explode, too (unless that server has an _explodeTime of 0). Don't know what the server set...

Yeah, that generally takes a long time. The entire configuration and compilation of the bzflag source code happens in that line. Not sure why you would need a bzflag client on the server, but I think what you typed should work. As far as the sudo problem, that just means that you haven't configured ...

This is not really the right place to discuss compilation and installation issues. I would recommend that you post your question on how to compile somewhere in the correct section. In summary, yes, you were to type those commands in the console, terminal, or whatever you want to call it. The output ...

adminListener plugin

Hi all. I've created a new plugin, called adminListener. When loaded, it sends all team conversation to admins who are observers. It does not send team conversation to admins who are playing (it therefore avoids the any kind of advantage problem). It sends a message in white text as follows "[Player...

"You need to compile" Eh ... I'm still new to linux ... not sure how to compile apps. If all of your development tools are installed (e.g. compiler, autotools, etc)... 1. Uninstall your current bzflag package. Not sure how the package manager for Fedora Core works... perhaps "apt-get remove bzflag"...

In my configuration file, I used: -loadplugin /home/ck/flagOnSpawn.so,V:-1:G:0 I got no errors upon starting the server, but I couldn't spawn with a flag, either. Am doing something wr...

Guided Missiles will shoot up or down automatically depending on what tank it is locked on. To lock onto a tank, line up your target box with the target, and press the 'I' key (it may be different on your system... check which key is used for "Identify/Lock on"). You have to be pointed nearly right ...

Please do... I think that's how it should be done. Until then, though, this will allow people to use this functionality in their group setups.

But I never added configureability or anything, which is why I didn't bother with a release. Yeah, this doesn't surprise me. It serves a fairly simple task, but I sought to make this as useful as possible within the simple functionality that it offers. Anyway, this will allow people to give specifi...

I do it all the time. This is very useful for determining how much lag you will need to account for (you'll need to be familiar with this ahead of time), and what flag you will have to defend against.

This is all good stuff. As for newbie teamkillers, though, I personally think that "You joined the game as the Red team" and "Don't shoot teammates!" is fairly straightforward, and don't quite see how it could be so difficult to understand. Yes, you may have to work through it with them two or three...

The biggest problem will be to find some names you can substitute with "someone", because I don't see any light in the end of the "tunnel of planning". I would assume that such work would be done by the bzflag developers, much like they are working on other features now. I know they have a lot on t...

Re: A novel approach to leagues

In the past 30 days there have been: 518 gu matches 174 ducati matches 25 pillbox matches Ah, okay, I didn't realize that. I'm not at all familiar with the GU league's popularity, but it seemed that when reading the match logs for Pillbox, Openleague, and Plosileague that matches were fairly rare o...

A novel approach to leagues

BZFlag is really doing well these days. The three or so top servers on the list almost always have 15-25 players at any given time, and more and more players are goining our ranks. The "Find server" option in the bzflag client is probably what is most helpful to assist new players in joining the BZF...
