You are taking away the opportunity for highly skilled players who can hold off a bunch of others to truly shine. Rabbit hunt is not about having fair odds as the rabbit.

Also, altering the tank speed may throw movements/jumps off on some maps, where geometry is spaced apart very specifically.

I was referring to texture packs intended to replace the game's built-in textures. This would be something you would copy over the BZFlag data directory, or supply with the -directory option.

I imagine the same problem will manifest on all the maps that have jumping, so I think it would be most beneficial and most consistent to change all of them... but HiX is the map I care most about.

Team Colors

Can we go back to Red versus Purple? Green has proven to not be a great color. When the green team flag is at a different elevation than you are, with enhanced radar, the flag blends in with the geometry and it's very hard to locate it.

Having it not poke through buildings and also having it bend down or at least disappear when a tank drives over it would be two physics "effects" that would make it more visually appealing. Also, having it fade out a little more gradually to the ground color/texture would probably improve the visual...

One more update. The rendered scene in the background is from a rendering prototype I'm working on, and the rest is a mockup. I added a black silhouette to UI features so they stand out better against a light background.
