it would be cool to have a better looking version of them: old: http://75.65.81.245:8001/blue_super_bolt.png new: http://75.65.81.245:8001/super_blue.jpg Macrosoft, you can put those in BZFlag if you want. First make a scene with the bullet taking up the whole camera view. Then, set the render reso...

Re: Maelstrom

Im trying to make the ships for the server, and am drawing on google sketchup, before sending to jftsang to finish off before sending to Tedius. If i draw them on google sketchup is that Ok to be put on the server, or do i need to draw them in another programme? P.S. jftsang may not have mentioned ...

BZFlag related C++ tutorials? You need tutorials. And honestly, I don't see you ever being able to make this idea into a patch. Why not. are u saying not possible or u could never do it.? I'm not sure you have the patience for it, but if you do, go right ahead. You NEED to know C++, because that is...

A .bzw, if you haven't yet figured out from the wiki, is a plain text file. You can open it up and edit it. When you see the text and numbers and stuff, those are things you can put in your .bzw to define new shapes. You can get a feel for how the .bzw file is formatted by looking at other people's ...

That might not be so bad of an idea... however, rendering a screenshot for each server wouldn't be practical due to the necessity of downloading the map, and the fact that many camera angles won't work on more complex maps. Displaying a small image (for fast download time) would probably be better, ...

link to my public shared folder http://75.65.79.249:8001/ 'Public shared folder'? Is that SMB? I would highly recommend using HTTP instead, if that is what you are doing. Many web browsers don't support SMB, and it isn't the most secure thing in the world, either. If your firewall blocks it, then i...

 How about having a library of textures already in the map editor? That would make things alot easyer. A better idea might be making the map editor automatically download textures defined in URLs in the map file for display. Then, in addition to making existing maps easier to edit, one could ...

Add to the message - "It's Free! :D" - That will sway some minds :) The problem there is that in a corporate driven consumer society we all know you don't get something for nothing, and the suspicion radar goes wild. I agree with Teppic. If I was a newb and saw something like that, I woul...

This reminds me very much of Advance Wars (which I've only ever played once), where you tried to take over cities. This would be like CTF but with a lot of bases that can change ownership. Ideally, the bases should change color, but that's going to need some changes to BZFlag. Fortunately, it's a go...

I believe what asciimonster meant was running BZFlag off a bootable Linux CD.

The best way, IMHO, would be to use the music player of your choice while playing BZFlag. If you have a dual-core processor, you will see no slowdown at all, unless you are using some nasty software audio mixer.

Re: IS BZ DEAD? (the public servers)

There seem to be fewer and fewer players. I log on several times per day, and there are rarely two or three dozen players on the combined public servers. Just a few months ago, there were players on a dozen servers. There were always players on babel and overlord, but the silvercat maps have disapp...

I'm no expert, but in my experience... _tankHeight, _tankWidth, _tankLength can be change in-game, but players don't see the changes until they re-join. _muzzleHeight changes the height of your shots and the height of the view out your front window. But _tankRadius affects collision detection (coll...

Maps in this game are static. It's a design decision, and an essential part of the game. or a decision of easy coding :D No. This game is simple. Moving objects (that effect the tank) will never happen. Tim Riker's decision. Really? That would sadden me if it were to be the case. Moving objects for...

me1's code is wrong. You only use the curly braces on the bzfs server command line.

I don't think there is any way other than plopping 20 laser flags in the map. This problem is often evident in BoxyWar.

There might be a way to accomplish what you want, but I do not know it.

Oh, I see what you were saying about the horizontal teleporters. You would go out the top of one, and fall back in. That would be really bad map design, and therefore really shouldn't ever happen... and it wouldn't 'crash' BZFlag, becuase it would take several seconds to fall back down into the tele...
