Re: Index of BZW related stuff
One smaller note: There tends to be confusion on what can and cannot be done in maps/bzw and what can and cannot be done via the game server/bzfs. (You may be able to find it in the Help: Server Setup and Administration Keep in mind, below is an index of all the threads from the Help: Map Making (Pa...

I did forget to mention that most of the time, the thread author is the prefab or map creator, but it's not always the case. (So please check the threads for specifics on a release. ) Here is an index of all the threads from the Help: Map Making (Part 1 of 3) Links on making and testing maps by Cann...

Thanks GEP, it compiles wonderfully. (I'm not familiar with make/makefiles and couldn't save myself if my life if it depended on it, lol.)

Attempting to build-compile ModelTool in Linux
I'm having trouble getting modeltool to compile. (This is from a 2.4.26. release) Running the following command in a compiled/built BZFlag/BZFS directory: g++ -o modeltool modeltool.cxx -I../../include ../../src/common/libCommon.a Leads to the following: g++: error: ../../src/common/libCommon.a: No ...

Re: Maps Directory
Are these maps from the /saveworld command? Since if so, they would normally be available to be selected. (If I remember correctly.) Or if downloaded elsewhere, you can run the /saveworld command. Then the directory where the map is saved is listed in that case and you can place your maps there. How...

The plug-in is simply an updated version and enhanced version of mrapple's plug-in. (bz_Toolkit is a dependency in the updated version.) Re: Idea to help newcomers
Ironically, one issue with many projects/concepts similar to this nature relates to skill and talent. Usually this is since many players are not map makers, map makers usually aren't plug-in writers, and plug-in writers usually aren't both highly active players and map makers. So, for example, I kno...

Re: need help
Adding to what blast has said. There is the option of generating maps/objects via scripts/apps, so if you know some coding and the .bzw format, you may be able to generate a map more easily this way. (It comes in handy with generating meshes or other objects in some form of pattern or random order.)...

Re: Tank flying away ...
What is your OS? What version of BZFlag are you using? What FPS are you getting? Do you have any screenshots with said "flying"? A general overview of your configs would be helpful. (Energy saver enabled/disabled, FPS settings.) Jumping varies quite a bit on FPS levels. So this may be one ...

Update: Possible scoring system to be used for FFA league:
TL;DR Previously, I did cover some of the issues faced with scorings and similar. I believe I have worked out a simple metric which is sufficient for the rankings to be used. The metric is K/D ratio, but with additional factoring for a "strength"/"accuracy" metric. To make it eas...

Re: FFA league - concept and discussion
Individual competitive/ranked/ladder play is a viable concept in most games, in tandem with the more formal league play with organized teams. I imagine it would work just as well in BZFlag. However, I do not believe that BZFlag's current ailments would be solved by the addition of such an option at...

FFA league - concept and discussion
Greetings all, Something I've noticed has not been done in quite a while, is a Free For All league. I think while CTF is really enjoyable and allows for team vs team rankings and some statistics on players overall, it does not offer something very much like a leaderboard ranking to take place. Since...

Re: flagHeldWhenKilled not precise?
Tanks drop flags before death. You might want to keep track of the flag dropped event and death event. So you might want to do something like the following: dropEvent: { droptime[playerID]=dropEvent->eventTime; } deathEvent: { if ((deathEvent->eventTime - droptime[playerID]) <= 0.5) { // half a seco...

Re: suddenDeathCTF - Timed games with the first team to cap winning the game
I've got it in the works. It will be a separate plug-in, since it features API bypassing, as well as its own match management system.
