regarding map release
I am still working on the map. I am also working on the tools I used to make the map. I'll post something in a map-editing forum of this BB after Christmas. I am really busy with work stuff so really can't pursue more changes until then. The map is up on tadd.dyndns.org port 5152 I created it using ...

whispershadow and tadd ctf map
whispershadow designed a ctf map in ibzedit. I converted it to my tools and added some textures. it lives at tadd.dyndns.org 5151 (original) tadd.dyndns.org 5152 (with textures) http://torborg.com/bzflag/ctf_2006_11_23_sm.jpg Click here for a larger copy of the screenshot http://torborg.com/bzflag/c...

as a slow person, may I point out
The newbie server at the top of the list would quickly get crowded, since it is at the top of the list. I have long noticed that servers are popular because they are popular. Some perfectly good ones (even copies of other popular ones) never get used because they aren't at the top of the list. It's ...

problem solved
It appears that my ISP set me up with two different IP addresses, .20 and .130. My domain name, torborg.com, points to the .130 address. The computer uses the other address, .20, for outbound, and may also accept inbound connects on that address. I didn't know about the 2nd address and tried to get ...

two IP addresses?
Thanks all. DTRemenak may have hit on the problem I can fix. The network settings, set up by the ISP guys who put my server up at the colocation site, defines BOTH IP addresses. i didn't know that was even possible! Thanks for reading my post. I want to contact the ISP people to make sure I can tamp...

I had my server running on a Mac Mini at a friend's house. He had a T1 into the house and allowed all UDP and IP traffic on all ports to my IP to get to my Mac Mini. The only problem I had was that periodically I'd get 300mS extra lag for an hour or so a day. This really hurt playability. I had 4 di...

not up on gaming lingo
I'm not up on gaming lingo. I have a Mac Mini G4 at an ISP that has intermittent lag=300ms Problems. I am contemplating paying for a good server location. Are you talking $1.25*maxplayers/ month? i.e. if I have a game that has a max of 40 players my cost is $50/month? I am looking for a host and wou...

ok thanks
Thanks Jeff. Well OO7... the question then is how do we acquire and compile plug-ins. My take is that if somebody has a doc describing the process or can walk me (or you) through the process, then I'm ok with playing further. Right now I'm in the middle of another software project, some travel, and ...

I'm clueless about plugins
Actually... I don't know anything about plug-ins. Does the MacOSX version have plug-ins? Or does it depend on how it was compiled?

the server and what is on it
The server is MacOSX 10.4.5 on an Apple Mac Mini PPC G4.
The bzfs path is:
/applications/BZFlag-2.0.4.app/Contents/MacOS/bzfs
or
/applications/bzflag205/BZFlag.app/Contents/MacOS/bzfs
Both are on there. The path is a little different, be careful.
Does this help?

make my .png textures show up on other people's bzflag
I have several PNG textures on my map. I had to go to each Mac in my house and edit DownloadAccess.txt to give the computers permission to download the files since the web page they are on is not bzflag.org or bzflag.bz. What are the files used in Linux and Windows systems to control what URLs are a...

radar, display of altitude separation
I need a way to display tanks that are altitude separated from the client that is more subtle than the big box around the tank. It would be neat if you could quickly change a filter to hide tanks that were separated by some constant. This might also be useful for locking GMs on targets that are clos...

GM lock, should take vertical distance into account
Right now when you lock on somebody it locks on the tank that is closest on radar, even though the chosen lock is 2000 high and there is a tank right in front of you that is at your level. I'd like an option, or a change, to have GM lock take the closest tank in the direction indicated, including th...

trying to make this work
Using bzfs 2.0.2 for macOSX and bzflag 2.0.2 for macOSX I edited the DownloadAccess.txt file and removed the last 3 lines as indicated. I saved trepan's Code in trepan.bzw and pointed to it with bzfs. It creates a white sphere. I replaced trepan's http link with one to my own web site and I still se...

Wings vs GM
Wings isn't all that powerful if there are GM flags around. On my server you can jump 100 times before having to land. I put a limit on the number of shots a wings user gets before the flag goes away. You can get up to about 1800 high before you lose it. It's nice to drop down behind somebody and sh...

ignorance?
I find many postings in here from developers who know many answers that are not in the doc files/man pages. So much for ignorance. I love v2. It is slower on some things but there are many outstanding features that the available worlds are just beginning to touch. People who find it slow aren't thin...

I have a dual 2Ghz G5 with 10.3.8 upgraded from 10.2.whatever this thing came with. The v2 game is pretty darn solid here except that I get dumped due to lag about 10% of the time I switch from full screen to windowed. Also, i noticed that if I use the -solo option and then go into observer that I g...

hidden server areas
I'd like the ability to create buildings whose contents are not visible on radar. This should hide interior walls and teleports. It would be nice if players that are in the building are automatically STEALTH so they too wouldn't show on radar. It would be reasonable for my purposes if anything above...

Teleporter yellow light, and translucent tanks when near TP
re: Version 2.0 Is there any way to change the behavior near teleports? Right now I notice that if my tank is near a teleport I can no longer see because the screen is bright yellow. I have a crude solution that I would share
I am converting my v1 map over to v2, both edited with bbedit on MacOSX. The v1 map was done by hand using the actual bzflag v1 primitives, i.e. box position 100 10 0 size 5 5 10 end In the process of doing the conversion I wrote a plethora of C functions to generate BZW primitives for v2. Basically...

What map are you working on? I have been running it and working on it with the kaffeecontrol.de 5154 server which is presently listed on the 1.10.8 compatable server list.
