Re: BZFlag 2.4 Release Candidate 1
I was playing on Mystic Valley Rabid Rabbit server and everyone died, so the rabbit went to an unspawned player, that part made sense, but I was the 1st player to respawn and the rabbit stayed as the unspawned player. Shouldn't the rabbit switch to a spawned player as soon as a player spawns? An AFK...

Why not make BZAdmin and Bots (both playing bots and obs logging bots) not count toward the server player number list to avoid this?

Re: Lags on many servers
I always keep my GPU drivers up to date, my old card also didn't have any problems, it wasn't until I got the newer generation cards. I compiled a version of 2.3.13 to try and I haven't noticed issues yet, but I didn't really give them enough time to surface.

Re: Lags on many servers
I also have an NVidia GTX 460 and I'm having a lag issue that I believe is caused limiting the games FPS either in game or with VSync, I also had the same issue with my old ATI Radion 5770 till that card broke. The issue started the day I got rid of my NVidia GeForce 7500 LE and only happens when I ...

Re: Music in bzflag
Yeah, I don't think music that comes with the game and plays constantly is a good idea, maybe a short repeating clip for before you connect to a server, but what I'd like to see is 2 types of music that can be added to a map file, a skybox type music which can be heard throughout the map at the same...

Re: Different kind of color & drive throught not working
there is also a problem with pyramids and boxes with material references and drivethrough, simply change it to "meshpyr" and it should work fine. ahs3 Yuck meshpyrs and meshboxes are horrible, the textures always get messed up on them and require all sorts of work and texture matrixes and...

Re: What (if anything) do you listen to when playing BZ?
I like Oldies, but especially disco when playing BZFlag, the strong beat helps get me into a good rhythm for dodging. BTW, I see your avatar there, Mark, whats your PSN name for GT5? Mine is Mopar_Madman, I don't play GT5 much, but I do from time to time.

Re: BZWTestLauncher Beta 1
Thanks, way better than my old .bat server maker. It loads the map, but it wont let me connect to the server. I think Hamachi is causing the problem, but its off. My old server starter had problems when hamachi was on and then when i got it to load, the server would shutdown the second I joined.

Re: Rule change for planned substitutions
what if the losing team rejects winning sub, winning team forced to cancel match when it was reasonably, but not undoubtedly a victory? The more rules you throw in, the more cracks and holes you throw in as well. And here's a question for you, if this was intended for planned subs, why do people mak...

Re: Rule change for planned substitutions
just my opinion on this: I've been in GU quite a while and I've seen a couple teams using underhanded tactics to trick other teams into matches they otherwise wouldn't have agreed to match. These cases are few and far between though. I think its pretty much been an unspoken rule that planned subs sh...

Re: The favorite servers list
I know about that list, what I'm suggesting is that that list stay up all the time even if a server on that list shuts down or the global server list goes down. When the global's down, you can still connect to servers if you remember the ip. The favorites would show up in orange when they're found o...

The favorite servers list
My server list was taking a while coming up today and it got me thinking. For the times when the serverlist isn't working, it would be nice if people's lists of favorite servers could show up all the time, whether they show up on the server list or not. Have the servers be in white if they're found ...

Re: Compile 32 bit bzflag on 64 bit ubuntu.
BZFlag doesnt like vert sync from what I've seen. Both ATI and NVidia cards have a problem with it. I used VSync on my comp and anytime there's a big explosion, the FPS drop to like 20. When I keep VSync off, I get a solid 300-400 FPS, dropping to like 200-300 range in explosions.

Re: Compile 32 bit bzflag on 64 bit ubuntu.
What's your framerate? Those last issues are also cause by high frame rates. At high framerates like over 200 FPS, tanks start getting holes in the hitboxes so they're slightly harder to hit, but they jump lower and bounce off walls like they're rubbery. At low FPS, like below 30 FPS you can actuall...

Re: the position of the legue
on the same note zaph, const seems to think 3.0 could come out in a month or two if coders chose to make a final push for it. I'd love to try to contribute if I could get a copy of the latest 2.99.x code, all I was able to find was 2.0.x code. I don't know c++, but maybe I can get something done wit...

Re: the position of the legue
The leagues in general are doing better than BZFlag as a whole, but with little to no new faces in leagues and in the game for that matter, I think 3.0 is the only chance for anything bzflag related to survive. Its a downward spiral though. Less members, less coders. Less coders, more time between u...

Re: Guided missile warning light?
I think colored shots are very useful. They give you info about what teams are attacking you, if its you own team, you'd be less concerned about more shots following than if its an enemy bullet. Also if multiple teams are attacking you, can you turn them on each other? Normally you can also see the ...

Re: "Demystifying Lag" not accurate
When a player has 100-200ms lag it becomes very easy for players to hit F5 or have other cheats that add delay to prevent a tank from dying. The reason it's easier to get away with is because it's a lot harder to guage where the tank actually is, which means it can be manipulated easier without det...

Re: don't let BZFlag die
You could put a "Register Callsign" button on the bzflag.org front page which would then be pointing to the initial bb-registration site. What about putting a register callsign button right the main screen when people open up the game? I did not register until I went to boxy wars and you ...

by far the best map I've ever seen, prolly too complicated, but some cool eye candy would be if the earth could spin, a moon revolve around the earth, and a sun revolve around the map. They'd probably be moving so slow though no one would really notice, but it would give a cool effect when the sun o...

Radar Issue
I just got a laptop and installed BZFlag 2.0.10 on it and the radar shows no shot lines and no boxes around tanks to show what height they're at. I tried everything and nothing fixed it (sry Doink, you're idea failed too). Even my exact same config from my desktop wouldn't fix the problem. Does anyo...
