It is in CVS too, so it can save you some time to just checkout that one file from CVS instead of getting an entire distro.

CVS module /bzflag/misc/xxxWordFilter.txt

xxx being one of two possible prefixes (there are two filters in there)

Red Baron: exactly, so take your problems elsewhere :) jk I know what you mean, I can see how my msg was insisting this isn't something to be worried about, which I didn't mean. It is indeed an issue, and shouldn't be ignored, and it won't.

Red Baron: in that case, that shouldn't be a problem, it is a bug, but in that case if it's only the arena wall at least the shots won't hit anyone.

Ducatiwannabe: heh, I had it first so he stole it from me :)

If all that stuff still doesn't fix it, it might just be a messup and it really did finish building the conf file, but spits that msg out when it's done as a messup. *shrug*

Most likely this isn't a bug at all, but use of the new shootThrough map feature, from 1.10.x.

Was there anything that is suspicious about your selections? This doesn't look like a blatant error, but something messed up internally when executing it. Only thing I can think of is that someone goofed when writing it, and there isn't much that can help right now.

That would be a lot of fun, and would be indeed very neat, however, still only a small amount of people may attend due to location it is held in. There could be "rolling conferences", where conferences are held throughout different places, but this might take a lot of effort. Either way, i...

or even downtown LA with the tops of the skyscrapers in fog (simulating smog), a good set of skyscrapers with careful attention, as well as this and any further features, could make a lot of new simulations of real places even better, just to add one more thing.

I can think of a lot of weather situtations for BZFlag, and a lot of them are actually pretty easy to code. I suppose it hasn't been done (well, weather has been done in the older versions IIRC, but not done for the public) because either nobody has the interest/time/both, or it is low priority. I f...

BTW, suggestions/feedback in general is encouraged for that page (at least, I encourage it :) ). If you are up to it, you can post some suggestions as to the content of that page, because since I wrote a lot of it, I really can't spot things that others can (since I know all of what is on it :) ). It should indeed, if you set up a banfile for BZFS and you told BZFS the correct file name. This is the first time I've heard a problem like this. It most likely does write to the banfile as you use /ban, but the server reset kills it. It shouldn't do that either, but that is what I have a hunch is ...

No problem. We all made mistakes, but I think why complaints happened so often was because it happened so often :) No problem at all. At least the people who did complain told it straight out, instead of cowards who are abundant in life that will tell someone else in private, and have that someone e...

The manual pages aren't the greatest reference since there are some parts that need updating.

At least I tried to make a good thread.

At least RC Cola already made a cover design, should there ever be a book on the topic :)

If you want a complete one, read the wiki page. It's talks about every OS that's supported on how to set everything up, plus what to do afterwards and before. The title, I felt, would help relieve some frustration, as well as make notice on it, when it comes to the topic of teaching how to create a ...

How to create a server

Many people have asked how to create a server, and I will give a brief starter explanation here. First, you need to familiarize yourself with BZFS, the server program. It is the same folder as BZFlag, as it comes with the distribution. Change to this directory, and enter "bzfs -help" to ge...

I have to pass on this one. I love being chosen to do things that are honerable, but with how busy the theatre chain I work has gotten with one branch having been remodeled to add 4 new theatres, I just don't have the time. There is no way that I know of to do so, except to just hack the code. If you can compile the code and know C/C++, it is pretty easy to do: just have it not render anything or check for keys, etc... if -solo is given.

Other then that, no way that I know of.

Servers can change environment variables using /set, like this case.

Probably what happened was the shots were too fast to be seen, and since your own shots are marked as white on radar, yours were easier to track than others.
