Re: Ninja Castle (Map project Sig and I are planning)
Glad to see you're still around. I haven't touched map code and 3D modelers in awhile, but if you still want to give it a shot, I'm still around. Probably going to spend some time re reading the thread with the ideas and get a better grip on where things stand if you're still interested. I remember ...

Thanks for the servers ahs3, much appreciated. Should give the US players a chance to up their scores, and perhaps increase 1v1 activity!

Re: An Appeal to Server Admins -- and the Players
what are we going to do about runaway bastard maps? What ARE we going to do? You and I have no control over who hosts what maps and what each map provides. The community and reputation of BZFlag is solely based on the servers and players that are provided, so therefore, there is no real control ove...

Re: wheres my map
This is a question that cannot be simply answered. I would suggest you contact the host of the altix.silicon.hr severs, which would be Easy Tank according to Strayer's BZStats Website . Reasons server owners typically take down maps include but not limited to: -Long inactivity for the map -Demand fo...

Re: Unregister?
Sorry to hear you had such a bad gameplay experience. Unfortunately this type of play applies to many types of maps, and players will do anything for points, as you have clearly found out. I accept it as a challenge and try to either overcome the challenge by outsmarting them, or simply avoid the pl...

Re: Beginners plugin compile problems
When compiling, you may also choose to compile this way: g++ -I /path/to/bzflag/include -shared -o plugin.so plugin.cpp Place required header files in /path/to/bzflag/include and the plugin should compile if all dependencies are there. Usually I copy over the plugin_utils headers as those are useful...

Re: Hacking Accusations
PhaseShifter, this is more about the fact that you get accused of hacking for playing exceptionally well that they think it is impossible for you to possibly survive that bullet, or jump in a certain way, etc. rather than talking about actual cheating. I actually have recently captured a gameplay se...

Re: Randomly Rotated Blocks on a Map
But to generate a random map via a script is simple enough to do. Indeed, just to elaborate a little. Server owners can set up a "keepalive" or map rotation script that will start up bzfs, wait until it is dead, and then restart bzfs once again. Before each restart you can then run that s...

Re: Server location and name
Perhaps instead of figuring out the setup of the server yourself, you could perhaps kindly get one of the many generous hosters to look at your map and perhaps put it up. Generally when someone releases a map in the Map Releases topic, if it is deemed worthy of hosting, someone will put it up for yo...

Re: Where to apply for unbanning?
There is no real application process for such a thing. The ban was decided based on the GU admins and thus it should be taken up with them if you feel you need to discuss an unbanning. The GU League website contains the list of admins whom you can contact, and you can usually contact them via Privat...

Re: kicked for - "banned host for: bye by winny"
It seems you are getting the same reason on multiple servers, which means they more than likely share the same kind of banlist, so probably by the same owner. Find these servers, and look them up on http://bzstats.strayer.de/. The reason you have to look for those servers there is to find the Owner ...

Re: Pyramid Ricochet
For future reference (Since the backup restore caused the answers to this post to disappear): There seems to be a bug when converting 1.0 objects to mesh objects, and the ricochet option gets discarded. In Flag Alert!!!'s case, the meshpyr option should be used instead of the pyramid option to still...

The second link ? It did not go anywhere again. Clicking the VC++ 2008 download just returns the same page. Cause ? Bloody JS ofcourse :-( The reason is they ask you for a language to download it as before providing you the download. I really do not see what harm Javascript can do for you for all o...

Re: How would you rate yourself
I wonder if all the people who play exclusively on GU and Ducati are really also that good at other servers. It seems like their mad skills at dodging and rico would be just as effective other places. But those maps are a lot less chaotic than others... so even if someone is marginally better, that...

Re: Flags
Think of colors as mixing up light. What happens when you put red, green, and blue together? You get white. (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/28/RGB_illumination.jpg) Therefore, in BZFlag code, a Material will have something like this: material name whitecolor color 1 1 1 1 end meshbo...

Re: HOW To Make A Map: The FAQ.
A map with +r will make all objects have ricochet. Therefore the only way to have ricochet per object/mesh face is to turn off ricochet and enable ricochet on everything that requires it.

Re: Flags
Map makers create zones which have either the flag or zoneflag properties. The flag property will tell the map that that is a possible position for those flags, but they must be created with the +f option. The zoneflag property on the other hand, will create flags and place them in that zone, and on...

Who I have to contact? supra7 is the name of the owner of the server. For future players who may get banned or unable to access a server, you can use Strayer's BZStats as a tool for locating the owner when you cannot actually get on the server in-game. http://bzstats.strayer.de/servers/stats/?serve...

We fail at these, badly. Hehe, I think many of us got a good laugh after reading the first few points, I know I did. It is unfortunate that such a thing is true but there are many factors involved in it and I myself would not want to get involved in trying to organize such a thing. I consider this ...

2.4.0 servers and up have a slash command /owner that allows you to see the user that is associated with that server. You can then choose to private message them via these forums. Their profiles on here may contain other websites or email addresses you can use to try and contact them. Some are also ...
