Re: Round Robin (All Teams Play) Team Cup

It will be very difficult to get people available at those specific times for an extended period. People have busy lives and even to get a team together for Rikers, which involves only two teams, can be very difficult. The only way I can see this being possible is that you create and maintain the to...

Re: A new matching variant for GU league

I think such systems have a lot of merit and anything that contributes to the fun should be considered. There are a few issues at stake here though… 1. The Player: Anything that encourages players to be more active should be encouraged. An ELO rating of kills might be useful, since there will be man...

Re: Autohunt laggy players

So I made one more change. rather than blinking the tank as if hunted, just draw a circle around each tank that would represent the area the tank possibly is by adding local and remote lags and giving the circle a radius of the max distance the tank can move in this period. I find this to be very u...

Re: Flag pass on ducati

IIRC, FS wrote the original bzmatchball. I admit to not knowing how much work it would be to rewrite it or knowing anything all about code.....Can it be assumed that some of the code from the 2.0 version would be useful and thereby jumpstart the rewrite? Yes I wrote the original FlagPass plug-in. I...

Re: A new matching variant for GU league

Red-der brought a real concern to the table and proposed a solution. The problem is how to provide competitive matches for players with no mates currently online, and in particular for players that rarely have mates online. There will never be complete agreement for any proposal, but there needs to ...

Re: New players

Each map and each flag has their own particular skill-set to master. Don't be disheartened if you can't master everything at once. You might start with the Ducati maps. No Jumping or special flags. It is much simpler and a great way to learn dodging skills and good use of ricochets. If nobody is the...

Re: A new matching variant for GU league

bz is a bad way of communicating because the chat box also logs kills, who picks up what flags, server messages etc. its easy for a message to get lost in all that You can turn those messages off. There are tabs for the different types of messages "All", "Chat", "Server&quo...

Re: How does a server recognize me after changing computer/I

Some miscreants are so bad that it is necessary to blanket ban not only them but also anybody in their vicinity. It really is a shame that some people lose even the opportunity to enjoy BZFlag just because somebody that lived near them thought it was fun to ruin the game for everyone. But that's the...

Re: A new matching variant for GU league

Fun matches are an important part of the league. It allows new players to learn without the pressure of the competitiveness of an official match. I would be very worried about any proposal that reduces the opportunity for such matches or makes them so competitive that new players will be intimidated...

Re: A new matching variant for GU league

I think the constant random team assignment might become annoying. You work hard to build your team's score only to be kicked off it. There may need to be some reward for achieving wins. I was thinking that individual scores could be kept, but that would mean complicated match-entry, especially if t...

Re: A new matching variant for GU league

Strayers will need to be updated too, or each player will need a "shadow-player" to be set up in GU, so that we can keep track of who is on which team. It might be easier to just set up a sister-league that GU-Members are automagically added to. It would certainly simplify the coding. It m...

Re: language filter

Take it up with the admins if there's a problem. Unless they're not around, which they might not be, if they can't enforce the rules on a case-by-case basis. The filter was implemented mostly due to requests by Admins. Language was becoming a very divisive issue, where cultural differences resulted...

Re: Nice jumps for reaching the top side (7,5 MiB)

OK. I take it back. It is possible, though difficult, to achieve using normal settings. You can see from the screenshots posted how close to the edge you must be to achieve the jump @ 150 fps (approx.). I tried a few various settings and it's possible using many of them. I have attached 2 screenshot...

Re: Nice jumps for reaching the top side (7,5 MiB)

That jump becomes easy when you turn "Energy Saver" to ON in your "Options->Display Settings". As far as I know it is impossible with normal settings. Playing with this setting is very annoying, so I'm always suspicious of players that make this jump during a match without having...

Re: Map: A*A Bridge Crossing

I like the no radar stuff, but it's too easy to hide your team-flag in an unobservable location, (e.g. up a mountain shrouded in mist). It would be better if the range of safe drop zones was drastically reduced, so that it must be carried or hidden within the spawn-room. If you got killed carrying t...

It's not just 10.8 either. I've had a few crashes there to on various versions on OS X. It looked like the crash was happening after it tripped up on some debris rather than anyth...
