Re: Fun with Genocide
Nice, I hadn't heard of the last two, if they work together with anti-spawnkilling it'd be fun on Missile Wars.

Re: Daft CTF
Very daft. It's something you are 10% used to after 10 minutes, 50% used to after 30 and probably 70% used to after a few hours. It's just not intuiative, and for how simple it is that means it doesn't completely work. Such close combat doesn't go well with such close capping.

Poor, though I will hold further judgement for when I have an opponent. It is too easy to kill yourself, by the invisible barriers and the out field.

Re: Stalingrad
I've tried what I think are two version of this and I'm still sure its poor but not why. It's too much of a mix of far (very limited use laser), mid (VERY slow gm) and close (st, wings, mg).

Re: Sound Object
It would be MIDIs, as I don't know of anything else bandwidth/dialup friendly, and even complex midi files are smaller than many texture pngs.
Also, I think the options should include one to never download, as well as one to download but not play them.

It's too easy for the other team to camp very near you, maybe a SW like Two Tanks on cap.

Re: Is BZFlag a especial game?
The thing with english is that it's got an unbelievably wide vocabulary, if not the widest vocabulary of any other language. This is because the UK has been invaded so often, and words from many many languages have been appropriated and bastardized to form the mess that is English. I'm always amaze...

Re: Missile War League??
It hasn't been perfected anyway, all the other league maps are simpler. Also, it's quite overpowered compared to league games, laser camping can be too successful, as can most flags in too different ways.

Re: Team Scrambling
The server knows who picked their own teams and who didn't, and it's unlikely 2.* will get any update of this size anyway.
I agree, very good idea. It would need a fairly high majority, with 3.* ignoring non-voters it should be 2/3 or 3/4.

Wireless itself is bad, I'm on an iMac with the wireless less than a metre away and it's 68% strength, so I have ethernet to it.

I'm one, starting off at Two Tanks and Missile Wars. I play what I think is Ducati to knowingly learn what I can see are better tactics.

Re: Castles to Castles - A red versus green CTF
Just played it now, a bit with Ghost. It's a pretty good map. The shockwave is a bit confusing. SW flag is useful because it's fairly large. Laser spamming is far too common, and for similar reasons tking. It's not that the shots are bouncing around and killing teammates, or that it's too fast, but ...

Re: everyone knows I cant practice what I preach... Geno Tactics
I was lucky enough to use geno twice today, and to hold it on another map. Where it spawns in a known place, e.g. Missile Wars, Getting - St if there is a gm, cl/gm otherwise. You might as well be quick, doubt it's vital. Don't be afraid if there is someone on the last jump on the other side, they a...

Re: Voting
That beginners map idea is good, it should be easy to make a map with all sorts of simple obstacles, then some physics to allow bots in when they want. Imo it should be automatically chosen as the server first time, telling them first time they run bzflag. Voting - Sounds like 3 fixes it, as solved ...

Re: Many suggestions
I think the third one is similar to what I've heard about - Shock Wave should destroy all ammo that is in its area, including any lasers that hit the outside. Maybe with exception of geno, but definitely not gm.

Re: Physics Arena v1.1~ by Metroid Prime
Amazing, but I would say the border jumps are too predictable, you could be easily shot as you land. Wings doesn't react well with physics, thought it was what I tried to get. Gm might also not work well with the speed everyone is pushed to.

I'm really not sure what I'm learning here. Dropping a flag in a tele, up against it or in mid jump, causes the flag to fly to the middle of the world?

Re: "Booster" flag/zones.
Sounds like High Speed + Wings. What might be better is something more capable of going against physics, like on some belts you can vary your speed by -+20% (roughly), make a flag which is far more effective (150 or so) which means you can go back, slowly.

Re: Does this map have too much detail
NICE! There is a map of a whole city out there somewhere, on the same server as Missile War.
The main limits are polygons for drawing - the question above matters a lot and images which means a raster (png, jpeg opposed to vector like polygons, svg) are slow on slow connections the first time.

Some smaller updating choices
Would it be possible to have some other way of downloading, like a diff patch file or rsync? For Windows and Mac at least, the others probably can't have binaries. It would be quicker and less bandwidth used.

Re: BZFlag Freezing Up
I have stuff like this on mac.
1. It doesn't like you having just switched internet type (eg wireless to ethernet)
2. Youtube quicklist doesn't work while it's open
3. It won't last 20-40 minutes with smoothing on.
4. Randomly does nothing, as you have.
