Re: How To Make Your Mouse Faster Than Vista Settings
No, super-crappy. I used to have a Dynex mouse up until a couple of years ago and it would like to randomly click or forget to click.

Re: cordless pad with ubuntu 10.4
Not sure about Lucid yet (since I just did the upgrade this morning and haven't had time to try out my games yet), but on Karmic (9.10) I never needed to use any drivers or calibrators for my logitech pad. Once I installed the "joystick" package (available through Synaptic straight from in...

Re: Bzflag wont start on Ubuntu 9.10
I'd guess that the 16MB card runs off the Rage128 (r128) drivers referenced by the ati wrapper, while the 64MB card uses the radeon driver (like the other cards mentioned so far in this thread). All of the info I had gathered previously had only mentioned the radeon driver specificially and I didn't...

Elfie!! Good to see you back (and thank you for making me realize how old I'm getting :P )! Badgerking is still around and has undergone some interesting changes since the last time you were around, though I wouldn't quite call it "popular" at the moment. Good changes. Interesting gameplay...

Re: 2.0.14/ATI/Ubuntu Karmic Fullscreen Fix
Okay, looking through bug reports, I discovered that DRI in the radeon drivers became broken with the release of Mesa (DRI and GLX) 7.6 and still hasn't been properly fixed. The suggested fix right now is to downgrade libgl1-mesa-dri to version 7.5.1 (libgl1-mesa-glx may remain at the current highes...

Re: 2.0.14/ATI/Ubuntu Karmic Fullscreen Fix
Which I had tried. The game would go full screen upon switching the video mode, but would fail if you ever pressed F1. Also, even after a successful exit (after saving settings), it seemed the client would "forget" and go back to trying to set an improper mode, as detailed above, the next ...

2.0.14/ATI/Ubuntu Karmic Fullscreen Fix
Okay, I finally got fullscreen working correctly with my Radeon 9250 in Karmic using the standard "radeon" open-source drivers and found that the issue lies in how bzflag is getting its initial display mode from the X server. When first run fullscreen straight from the command line or laun...

Re: Bzflag wont start on Ubuntu 9.10
And clearing away and re-installing the driver packages doesn't solve the problem, which really sucks, because it's the only driver (xserver-xorg-video-ati and xserver-xorg-video-radeon) that's stil vaguely supported for ATI cards that aren't covered by Catalyst 9.10... EDIT: Found a minor fix for n...

Re: Bzflag wont start on Ubuntu 9.10
No joy. Running bzflag with no command line options produces an error message similar to above, while using the '-window -geometry" options results in a segfault when the menu comes up (I get a display for less than a second before losing the window and getting the segfault error in the termina...

Re: Bzflag wont start on Ubuntu 9.10
Chiming in to report that I'm having the exact same situation (bzflag segfaults on load, but glxgears/other ogl packages run fine) with an ATI Radeon 9250 under 9.10. Might need to bug report this to Canonical and AMD as this may be compatibility issue between Karmic and older (dropped before Cat7) ...

While we're on the subject, I would also suggest his Home Sweet Home map. It's an incredibly fun concept and map that I'm really surprised has fallen from popularity the past year.

Or perhaps you could just send him straight to the Saitek website (www.saitek.com), which carries the latest drivers for the ST290 Pro on all flavors of Windows and OSX. Remember, all you need is the drivers (they ARE required). The programming software is optional and won't really help with BZFlag....

Actually, I rather like the idea as it fosters two different tactics for the teams involved. Purple, being on the high ground, can focus their tactics on assault and capture, with some defense. Red, being on the low ground, would focus their tactics on defense, with some assault and capture. It make...

Re: Over The Rainbow
Personally, I would suggest adding short-walled pools or moats to break up the open spaces. Those edge zones are definitely too open, but you don't want to clutter it with massive amounts of small objects. The simplicity and sparsity are part of what makes it so incredibly beautiful. And to echo Sni...

Re: Joysticks,Gamepads,Ect.
I actually use a Saitek ST290 joystick to play. Nice, cheap little digital stick and usually reponds very well in game. The fact that ALL of my important functions are right at my thumbtip is a good bonus, too. ;) You should actually do a forum search for "joystick" - this topic has come u...

In regards to issues that are ver...
