yes, what WinXP said.

and to make the closed ends, just make something that's really thin and with ratio 1, and stick it on the end. :)

skip that last step if you don't want the ends.

Delusion, that seems nice, but I'd take the whole score as the deciding factor, not just kills. If a player has a really high score, give them less powerful flags, and if their score is lower, give them more powerful flags. I'm not saying eliminate powerful flags from good players, but they need the...

hmm... I think the server should record who held the flag... took it so far to the base... etc. etc. so stuff like "Hey! I should get those extra points! I carried the flag 99% of the way then died! ROAR!" Doesn't happen ;-) They just get points for how much they helped. You should also l...

I think the extra points are good. If you cap more, you get rewarded more.

I usually listen to hardcore/terrorcore/speedcore when I play bzflag. It gets me in the mood for beating the daylights out of you non-green guys. :P

Alternate CTF Scoring

I mentioned this idea in the IRC chat... but just so we all have solid reference to this idea, I'm posting it here as well. I personally think that the current scoring system make CTF just a Free-for-All game with four or less pretty-looking flags. There is no benefit, it seems, to capping the flag....

check it out now...

still up on the Null Productions CTF Playground, if you want to try it. nullbzflag.gotdns.com port 5154.

Cloaking is your friend.

nah, you need a public enemy #1 flag... where you become rogue and all your shots are super-genocide... they kill EVERYONE.

yea i love the frog rain. and to change the color of the rain, after u typed: /set _rainType rain type /set _rainBaseColor color where color would be the color of your choice. Red would be an example I think that color was only added so that the emos could use black rain and the goths could use red...

yeah, links will be added. I might add a bunch of teleports in the base corridors... might make a cool addition.

As for ground objects... I don't think there's any shortage of them, but I can put in some small walls around the bottom.

I prefer the hand-coding method, myself. I'm a PHP scripter, so hand-coding it is more comfortable to me.

I am on a laptop with a trackpad, so there goes the mouse thing... I'm too cheap to buy a joystick, so I just use the built-in keyboard on my Dell Inspiron 600m. Sure the keyboard's not the most precise thing to play with, but in bzflag, being precise has never really been required... and if you do ...

Thanks, man. Due to popular request, I'm going to add some links into it... people think they should go up to the top of the towers, but I don't know. I kinda made that fortress hard to get up for a reason. Having a link would take some of the fun out of it for me. I don't know.... what does everyon...

it might be cool to have a reverse-masquerade flag like that, where you show as an enemy to your teammates.

or maybe a radar-masking flag where you show as a teammate on radar, but not in HUD.

the ghost flag would be too powerful though.

Here's a nice look at the map on my new server. I think this completely rocks, if I do say so myself. Hooray for boredom and randomly changing server variables.

Jumping up that tower is fun. You should get on the test server to see the CTF version of it. Oh, and I'll post that map while I'm at it.

I put the bases and the paths to the bases in tunnels. It's really neat.

Yeah, I might add a big tower with some windows in it in there or something. Which might be neat for CTF. Have the big tower that you just jump up different steps in, with windows so you can be shot, but you're still partly protected. Then have a balance bean go out to a suspended base in the empty ...

Thanks!

I'm still planning on a CTF edit of it that has taller towers and to get up, you jump back and forth between platforms a few times up to a really high base. Not too sure just yet, I'll play around with it a bit. For CTF I'm going to make the map a bit bigger, though.

Tangent's Playground (my first map)

Yeah, I finally got around to making my first map. It's fairly small, but it's fun. I've got two towers in corners, two little bunker-ish things (good for SB flag holders), and some other decorations. 1.0 map. Good for FFA. Maybe Rabbit Hunt too. I have no test server up just yet, but I'll work on s...
