Re: Music in bzflag
The idea of being able to hear another player's music when near their tank is intriguing. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to shoot a GM into an adjacent vehicle when I could hear their music.

Re: Music in bzflag
a kind of side-topic, somewhat related, would be for the devs to build per-map preferences into the client. So for instance, if I like a small mousebox on a map that doesn't need much fine navigation, and a larger one on maps that need finer control. Currently I have to change these whenever I join ...

Re: Music in bzflag
I use Pandora , and have never noticed any adverse effect on bzflag. I imagine any music playing ability the devs would consider putting into bzflag would be for the map makers to be able to specify a soundtrack for their maps, or custom sounds associated with events, etc. Maybe allow players to sen...

A*A Bridge Crossing
Who's map is this? Great map, but needs a little work. Suggestions: 1) Set _worldSize a bit smaller to solve people getting to ground by going over and behind the mountains. 2) Make floor under bridge pass-through so people will fall to their deaths instead of being able to use glitches get down the...

Re: Your BZFlag Hero/Master
Wow, I am just amazed that anyone would mention me in this topic. I am humbled, and grateful. Thank you. For me,there are sooo many to list, I can't pick a single most influential. From a playing perspective, my "aha moment" came early on when I discovered how to observe others. I observe ...

I usually listen to my boss yelling "Why is this project so far behind schedule?", as I play bz.

Re: Compile 32 bit bzflag on 64 bit ubuntu.
I was hinted that you can limit fps to ~30 in bzflag options --- just turn on energy saver. Now I can use jumpers and kill snipers. However it's not very comfortable, it says my fps is 28 but it feels like < 20. Fortunately there is a variable fpsLimit. Just add in the config file the next string: ...

Re: the position of the legue
New and/or casual players will likely stick around if the community is friendly, helpful and encouraging even without the latest wizz-bangery. This is something I think we could work on. New players are often berated and sometimes poll banned just because of their inexperience. Many times I am aske...

Re: BZFlag Mobile over Remote Desktop
Not to mention the lag induced by all that will likely make the game unplayable for the mobile user, frustrating for the rest of the players, and a pita for the admins.

Re: Your BZFlag Hero/Master
After I first started playing a few years back, I finally came to realize that there really was SKILL involved, I decided to OBSERVE some players that were playing well. The map was Missile Wars, the player was Bisque. Not only a really good player, but a really nice guy. It changed the way I approa...

Re: New Texture File Extensions!
If you are on linux, ImageMagick is free and will do the job: #convert filename.jpg filename.png GIMP is another option already suggested. While it would be really easy to have the server automatically convert any uploaded image to png format using a similar method either by calling 'convert' or usi...

mrapple,
Joevano has it right, but also have a look at logrotate if you're running linux. It will automatically rotate, compress and email logfiles based on their size.
#man logrotate

genostats: BZFlag server plug-in: Geno Stats This plug-in adds a command to the game that allows players to check on some simple statistics for Genocide flag usage. I like the handy genostats plug-in. Some suggestions for enhancement: - Do not display players with 0 kills and 0 deaths. Unnecessary ...

It would need to be noticeable but unobtrusive. Imagine if it flashed your whole hud and someone locked on you kept hitting the lock key a thousand times. It would send you into an epileptic seizure. ;o) Maybe flash the message on the first lock, and just play the sound for subsequent locks by the s...

Dockable windows
I play on a multi-monitor setup, and it would be quite nice if the chat, player list and radar windows were undockable so that I could move them to one of my other displays.

Bug?
Last night I hit pause to go take care of some business (ahem), and when I came back, I was dead. I hit the respawn and when I respawned, I was back in the game but everyone else was paused. Chat was still rolling, and the game was still going on. I could drive around the whole map, I could see wher...
