Basically, what we're hearing is that you aren't interested in doing any work whatsoever, but want us to do it for you instead. That's fine, but don't get upset if nobody does! If you were on the Linux side of your hard drive, you could probably find someone with a compiled shared object, but only a...

Hate to tell you, but yes, if you're going to compile a plugin from source code, you will need to get a basic understanding about how libraries and compilation work. Source code is human readable instructions that is written by a programmer. Compiling source code means that you run the source code t...

Most of the time, you can not talk on a Hepcat server if you are not registered. Mostly because of problems with spammers.

As I've said previously, setting up a bzflag server is a non-trivial task. It's not that hard, but it isn't something as easy as a few mouse clicks and you're in business, either. To anyone thinking of setting up a server: You REALLY REALLY REALLY need to read through the wiki! If you don't understa...

The config files can be put anywhere, so long as you specify the path to them when you run bzfs. Personally, I have a directory called bzconf where I put all my config files, group files, and user files. That way, you can use a ./ relative path to refer to your other files from your conf file. For e...

...and please just tell me and don't send me a link to something. You definitely will want to learn to search and find things on your own. The more flippant you act with the people who might help you, the more sarcastic the answers will be. Remember, you're not entitled to any help at all - we are ...

Sharing group moderator responsibilities

I'm working on getting a Pillbox League group set up, and am wondering if there is a way to share moderator duties with another league admin. I check this forum regularly, and can add people to the group as requests come in, but just in case I have to go away for a while, or mouth off the the wrong ...

Unless something hasn't changed since I last checked, /? also won't include all the commands - especially if there is a plugin loaded.

Thanks, anomaly that looks more like the commands I remember from my Windows days.

Do be careful though, if you are running a version of BZFlag that isn't 2.0.8, the directory won't be the same. (on the other hand, if you're not running 2.0.8, why the heck not?)

This is one of the nice things about the fair CTF plugin. You immediately drop the flag if the other team has too small a number of players.

Now, if there was only an auto kill for those guys who sit there and repeatedly try to pick up the flag.

Hey, not a bad start. Some suggestions: First, you might want to proofread the page as you add things, as there are a number of spelling errors, etc. I'm not a Windows guy, but I'm pretty sure that you can save worlds with a .bzw file extension and still edit them in notepad or wordpad. You might wa...

Sorry I can't tell you 'what exactly you need to know' there is a basic set of skills you'll need to get together to use it. Otherwise, you'll just end up aping some commands, and have no real clue what they mean. For starters, you should be able to navigate around your computer using your command l...

Especially that command line bit. From your posts, I think you are a bit confused about how maps work. ALL maps come in the form of plain text. I don't care what you made it in. They might import images, but the base map is a big text file. To start a server, you need to be opening a command prompt....

Yes, that post, with some cleanup, should end up in a wiki. I also agree with Grace F's attitude about learning to hand code. It's sorta like the web designers that I always end up working with who have maybe seen HTML, but don't really know how it works. They're just crippled in a certain way becau...

Huh, I'm on Ubuntu 64 Feisty too. I just installed bzflag from Apt. Zero problems here. (AMD 4400+ X2 processor) If you're installing from source, check which version of GCC you're using. I did a source install on Dapper last year, and had trouble until I pointed the gcc symlink to a 3.x version of ...

Not to bash bzedit, because it does what it was built for at the time, but it's pretty much useless for making anything beyond squares and pyramids. Hate to tell you, but you're going to need to download Blender or Wings and learn their user interfaces. Once you get over that learning curve, you hav...

I'm using BZEdit, and I have no clue what syntax is. I mean open up the resulting map in a text editor like notepad, and have a look at it. And what do you mean "elsewhere" on my localhost. Ah, that didn't come out quite the way I meant it. I mean that you should go to a public server wit...

Have you checked - with a fine tooth comb - the syntax of your maps? Try commenting out any code that might be questionable.

Also, have you tried using a map that you KNOW works elsewhere on your localhost?
