I must agree with SGI. These huge teams are pointless. A max player count of 6-10 players should be implimented. I think I agree. When the league started, we had a limit of 5 players IIRC. But that was later increased on requests from some teams until we ended with the current limit of 20. We could...

Which team did you use to be in, MortimeR? Having a rating of >1200 after a couple matches means that your team is above average. We have a lot of very strong teams now, so I would assume that most new teams would have a hard time to reach and keep up a >1200 rating during their first weeks in the l...

My advice would be the same as bamf's. Play a warmup and check if the lsag is ok for everyone. Once the match is started it should only be cancelled when something severe happens. What is severe enough lies in the eye of the beholder, of course. Rarely, extreme lag occurs in mid-game. It's then up t...

I'm not familiar with redhat, but this error mesage seems to indicate, that you're missing gl (mesa) development files. I'm sure there is a corresponding rpm for this.

Current CVS code stores MD5 hashes of the passwords inthe password file. So it's now impossible to get the password by looking at that file only. However, that still means that you have to trust the admin of any server you register with your password on. He could easily intercept the password before...

CobrA, if you plan to get invovled in developing (again), I would really suggest that you hang around on #bzflag now and then. This is where all the conspiracies are forged ;-)

Admins n ducati

I try to always run the newest CVS code on ducati. As you might already know (for example from bzgirl's posting here), the new code has means for players to register their callsign. I plan to remove the admin password from the server in the near future and go by the new player registration scheme ex...

It has simply grown over time. After g2, we should split it into a dozen parts or so.

ski, all our previous attempts of scheduling a match have failed because our timezones differ too much. We usually are not around after 22 UTC, and even that might be too late on most days of the week.

Moles challenge whoever is out there

We will gather on Sunday, 18 UTC (1st of June).

We haven't been playing that much recently for a variety of reasons and thus haven't managed to arrange any matches. I'll hope it will work out this way. Cu tomorrow.

It's relative to the max speed that the server thinks a player is allowed to go at. So, it's factor*25m/s for a plain tank and factor*37.5m/s for a flag with the highspeed flag (actually, the calculation is done on squared speed).

Fix is in CVS now. bzfs might still be vulnerable to different kind of attacks, of course (but that is always true).

Actually, current CVS is vulnerable, too, but only if the DoS is lucky. But this is only due to a bug in the DoS program, it can be easily modified to crash the CVS version, too. A fix will most probably be in CVS later today.

I"m just guessing here, but most probably this is a problem with the keyboard event abstraction code for OSX, i.e. probably the modifier keys do not work or not when combined with all keys.

All new CTF league website

Well, actually it will look rather familiar, but it got some new features and behind the scenes, the code got reorganized. Things that are new: On the team page a list of 10 most recent matches is displayed. It's also possible to display all matches a team has ever played. When a team gets removed, ...

Ducati is an old P-75 with 40 MB or RAM. It is connected via a 10Mbit/s ethernet interface to the University network. The University itself has a 34Mbit/s link to the outside world. What hardware are you using? Some soundcard/driver combos give you more than one DSP, so you could tell xmms to use /dev/dsp1 instead of /dev/dsp, which will be used by bzflag. I'm using SB PCI-128-like onbaord sound (Ensoniq ES1371 [AudioPCI-97] (rev 06)). Other cards giev you even more and your dr...

I agree with monkey_boy that a low shot count and no jumping is preferrable when you want to have a game which feels 'accurate'. With more shots, it becomes more or less random whether you die, and jumping amplifies the lg problems bye making it very hard to hit a laggy and jumping player with a sin...
