Re: Gradient Shading

Arcs should automatically use shading, unless you have 'flatshading' in any of your materials or objects... Perhaps check you haven't accidentally included that.

Re: BZEnviorments

It's really hard to sustain a BZFlag website, simply because the user base is not big enough. There have been a sites stories that I can think of, that started off great - even ran for a year or two - before falling into disrepair. Pretty much everything, bar the league sites. DW's BZW forum springs...

Re: How to change map?

On Mac OS X, the Start Server menu actually works (it doesn't on windows). • Put your map in the folder <home folder>/Library/Application Support/BZFlag/worlds/ (If the folder is not there you'll have to create it) • Then fire up BZFlag and select your map from the start server menu. This is a whole...

Re: BZEnviorments

the reason why I can't get a domain name, is I have no way of purchasing things over the internet. A bit OT, but surely you're old enough to get a debit card? Go down to the bank and set yourself up a bank account with a debit card. It's very useful, I got my first bank account when I was 13. I'm s...

Re: BZEnviorments

You can buy domains for cheap as chips. If you're really serious about making this a quality website, it will gain you a lot more credibility.
No offense, I think you need to work on your graphic design skills a little bit.

The question is not whether or not you need to spend money - the question is whether or not it means enough to you to spend the money.

Re: special flags

Uh, you can already do this: If you use +f good{1}, you get one of every good flag. If you also used -f GM, you would get one of every flag, except GM. Hence you can restrict certain flags from appearing via your conf settings. Alternatively, you can define very flag separately, if you need control ...

Re: Map making without coding skills.

I am of the opinion that if you want to be a truly good map maker, you should try and learn to use all the tools at your disposal - there's no point using a hammer to do a spanner's job. If you're just building a map out of boxes and pyramids, use BZEdit. If you need to add a few materials and physi...

I saw that you wrote "map size is inner barrier"...
You know, you can use

Code: Select all

world
   size <number>
end
Where <number> is the distance from the center of the map to the outer wall, default being 400.

Re: moveing objects

For example: The cube is moving Y+ at speed 25. It hits a tank going X- at speed 12. now the tank is going both X- 12 and Y+ 25 (diagonal) once the tank is ends contact with the moving object its Y+ speed is restored to normal. note:: this is assuming that the tank player is moving X- 12 the entire...

Re: Wanted (as in the movie)

It would be a fun option to have it so if you turn while firing, it puts a spin on the shot causing it to curve. The faster the spin the more pronounced the curve. This has been suggested before, and turned down every time. The game is supposed to be simple. Although, blast, is this really so diffe...

Re: Triangular-based maps

I think the easiest way to do it (and the way I do it) is to start by making the outer shape, for example a triangle, in wings. Then I build up one third of the map in a corner, and group all of the objects I used. I then duplicate that group twice - once with a rotation of 120 degrees, and next wit...

Re: Meshes

http://my.bzflag.org/w/Mesh Faces of meshes only face in one direction - that is to say, you can't see them or interact with them from behind. You can use this to your advantage if you want to make things which you can only shoot or drive one way through. Meshes are complicated business. And for the...

Re: New Texture File Extensions!

I know what the SVG format is but why would it be so good? correct me if I'm wrong but the last time I read it was primarily being used for mobile phones. (not to get off topic) :D It's a vector graphics format - that is, images are not defined by pixels of specific shades; they are defined as coor...

Re: -autoteam and -vote stuff

-autoTeam requires you to capitalise the 'T' in team

-veto time doesn't exist - perhaps you meant -vetoTime? That also requires a capital 'T'

-votetime does not exist.

You can't just make up options, you need to use the ones listed on this page:

I guess you'll complain about my other idea proven by the rest of life, ie what you lot are too scared to see. Re: Horizontal Teleporters

Please explain what you are trying, and what is going wrong. I have made 'horizontal teleporters' in 3.0. You use a mesh face as a teleporter, so in reality they can be any shape, size or angle, just like a mesh. There ARE docs around somewhere that explain the additions to the mesh which allow you ...

Just thought that I would update you all: The maps is pretty much finished, as far as I see it. From here on in it'll probably be just tuning everything to look nice. I had my PS3 controller up and running today, it was actually great fun. I can see it being quite a nice way of playing, once you get used to it. Much better than using the wiimote, which was a disaster.
