Re: givePoint and Retroreflector plugins
I—hands down—really like that idea, JeffM. Though it might need some tweaking. The issue is with the leaderboard that you mention, and the way the scores would be distributed. Every spawn on the map would yield +1 sum total of player points. Now imagine one player having a large streak, reaching the...

Re: givePoint and Retroreflector plugins
Due to stats sites not properly factoring in game modes, modes like Rabbit Chase, Hold The Flag, Racing Maps, Keep Away, and King of the Hill tend to "decrease" player stats overall, no matter how good a player is at said mode(s). Really now? Then how come I tend to always maximize my sco...

Re: CTF as a sole focus
So how exactly is this mode different than a regular CTF with max shots config set to 0, or a two-way HTF?

Re: CTF as a sole focus
You ought to consider writing less and being less ambiguous with your posts. I do not believe CTF in general needs a different game mode. Players just need a better incentive to focus on the team flags. This matter is already covered in leagues united, since the only long-term record and statistics ...

Re: looking for a race plugin
That sounds like a classic HTF (hold-the-flag) system.
Yes, it does exist! It is called a HTF scoreboard and quite a few HTF maps utilize it. The most recent would probably be the Obstacle Course, orchestrated by ahs3.

Re: looking for a race plugin
I don't think you really need any plugin to realize this, outside of perhaps a HTF scoreboard to keep track of the wins, unless I'm misunderstanding your idea. -c -mp 0,20,0,0,0,20 +f R*{20} -ms 1 This creates a setting for 20 red tanks and 20 observers, generating 20 red team flags, as well as sett...

Re: Plugins That Adjust Tank Physics
Excuse me, allow me to perhaps word my previous comment differently, because it might have been misunderstood. I am not against changes or further development of the game. Mentioning of such matters also does not bother me, nor would I ever try to beat down a person who would be trying to make a pos...

Re: Plugins That Adjust Tank Physics
There's only so much you can do with player positions, scores, spawns, deaths, flags and world weapons. No, there is not. The game is BZFlag, and the platform for creation is vast. If you want something completely different, either play a different game, or better yet, create one anew. BZFlag allow...

Re: Plugins That Adjust Tank Physics
Since you phrased this last post the way you did, perhaps you'd be interested to know that the physics of WG weren't always the way they are now. There used to be no vertical momentum on default, which made the flag even more powerful than it is now. Which says a lot, considering it is nowadays stil...

Re: Plugins That Adjust Tank Physics
For what it's worth, Wings play alone can be changed relatively a lot through adjusting the server variables that affect WG in specific. It cannot change it as much as requested in the OP, but with some clever map creation, it can already be a lot. There's four of them, in specific: _wingsGravity _w...

Re: BZ launches ZOOM!
I'm pretty sure this isn't happening due to BZFlag, but rather Zoom. I don't know how Zoom works exactly, but there's likely some sort of daemon running that reacts to apps opening, namely BZFlag, it seems. Try killing all Zoom processes and see if this still happens.

Re: BZ launches ZOOM!
How are you trying to open BZFlag? If it's from an icon on desktop, check the properties to see what command it executes. Someone might have had a bit of fun and put the path to Zoom executable there instead.

Dropdown: Generated HTF Map
I made a Python script that randomly generates a simple HTF (hold-the-flag) map, making each playthrough different. The attachment (.zip) includes the Python script (.py) for map generation and the configuration file (.conf). A required package for the script to work is bzwrap . Map The map is prett...

Re: Agatha's Thoughts on High-Level Gameplay
This thread is a shipwreck. One cannot expect or demand other players to play in a certain way, especially on non-league maps, which is where the majority of those in compliance with this thread play, despite mentioning LU so much. As kierra has said, people play this game for different reasons. Com...

Re: Safe genocide?
It is as blast said, if you ignore the actual killing, the only factor that remains are point adjustments that come from Genocide, both positive and negative, if shooting a teammate. It works in a similar fashion as the -tk argument does. If passed, when killing a teammate, you will get the -1 score...

That flag is not one of the default game flags, as such it has nothing to do with the base game itself. As far as I know, it is only included in optic delusion's Apoc server. You should direct any feedback on the matter to him.

I cannot make any claims because I do not know how exactly it went down in your scenario. Re: How prevelant are subtle cheats?
While such cheats definitely exist, most of the factors you named are usually what differentiates a great player from others. As such, the named factors, at the very least, are not something that we overly focus on when passing on the judgement of banning a cheater - it is usually other indicators t...

Re: BZ Client, force registration before being allowed to play
I think that may be a plausible idea for the league, considering it is filled with regulars, but a really bad one for generally popular servers. Many times, the majority of online players playing on the popular servers are of the type that do not want to have any unnecessary attachments. They do not...

Re: BZ Client, force registration before being allowed to play
I have mixed feelings on the matter, but an actual prompt and guidance for registering being available from the client itself would definitely be a step in the right direction towards getting more legitimate players to register.
