Re: New Tournament Cup
TeamSpeak 3, Skype, whatever, there are many live voice chat-rooms out there ready for use.Snake12534 wrote:I would use TeamSpeak as it more commonly used among league members.
It is true that TeamSpeak "specializes" into various team conversations, though. I have both, so I'm fine either way.

I know my friend that plays with many unregistered nicknames.

Re: Possible to View Flags on Ground?
I think I can. ;) I do not want to hijack the thread with Off-Topic comments, but I would like to ask, just how do you find Identify useful? You have to get really close to a flag in order to see what type it is. What difference does that make over just digging through them all on the spot, and keep...

Re: Possible to View Flags on Ground?
No, you just misunderstood. By hinting on how changing the functionality (never said to do it, though) I wanted to point out that the power the flag currently (and most likely always) brings is weak. You cannot argue that knowing all the flags on the map and where they are located would only bring m...

Re: Possible to View Flags on Ground?
Read my post again. I said that we could argue about its actual in-game usefulness, not its functionality.
It doesn't matter what it was meant to do since the creation, a weak flag is a weak flag.

Re: Possible to View Flags on Ground?
We could argue how the Identify flag is more or less useless, and how it should cover all the flags globally, but JeffM more or less hit the spot there. Unless the map has Zones set for specific flags to spawn in known locations, random flag hunting is based on luck. Furthermore, if a map includes b...

Re: Why are there only like 30 people playing BZFLAG at one
HiX and Duc for example require skill, while The Two Tanks - Laser Sniping or such require good tactics. I fail to understand the difference. Allow me to explain. For HiX and Duc, you require drill and keeping up to some limited styles of battling. At other flagged maps though, it might be even har...

Wrong.yosef wrote:It's not like more than 20+ players are playing at any given time anyway.
As the most of the active players come from the US, the game has approximally 30-40 players online at one point.
That would bring those players playing on around 5-8 maps at one moment.

Re: BZFLAG.org Chat Room ... can we make one?
What is the other story, then? It has always seemed quite active to me. Depends on what you understand as "active". 20+ active users chatting at one time? Doubt it, even though such a number is nothing uncommon for IRC channels around. FYI @ sub: There are lots of bz related channels....s...

Re: New Tournament Cup
Yeah, subs would be more than wanted. Were you planning on making a poll for the subs as well, after they sign up too? By that I mean dedicating each sub to one of the 4 teams, or will it be random and made up on-spot? If we can't get anything, we may just wait till January, after the holidays befor...

Are you positive that the username and password you are using in-game is the same as the one on the forums?
Also, could you identify which server/map you cannot connect to? Use the "Find Server" option and share the title of the map.

As said, BZFlag already has its own IRC Channel open for anyone to join and chat in.
How active and visited it is is another story, though.

Re: New Tournament Cup
The replays could be done on other servers as well. Regardless, GU focuses on HiX as a map, and at that time it wasn't certain yet if we will indeed use HiX as the map (if I'm not mistaken). Keeping how an assumption is good or bad aside, you have replied to the thread, which is the only thing neede...

Re: New Tournament Cup
I think it would be easier to have a preexisting gu server. Since there are several around the world, it would also give us some options. But then again, if we got others to host or I could even host with someone like BZAddict.net and make people admins....idk tho. You pick. I only pointed that out...

Unless you want to run this on an already existing GU Match Server(s), the Cup itself could have its own admins/cops selected.

Re: Why are there only like 30 people playing BZFLAG at one
Being "good" is only the general understanding of position you are in on the radar at all times. How good you are is mainly divided by the type of map. HiX and Duc for example require skill, while The Two Tanks - Laser Sniping or such require good tactics. All in all, I doubt being good/ba...

Hixurines is HiX, just with different variables set. I was focusing on objects and how they are set completely as a whole. Well, I guess HiX is classic, so I'll just blend in with this idea.

Re: New Tournament Cup
You are putting too much drama into it, Kesslar. I've said I don't see an efficient path myself, and that if no one would see it, then we would be unable to proceed. That's quite different from "never going to happen", unless you directly equalled the situation in which we really won't fin...

Re: Why are there only like 30 people playing BZFLAG at one
I wouldn't know if this is a troll or serious question, but it is pretty simple: the game is not that active any more. Mainly only the veterans play on it, or those new players who are not completely lazy and don't have zero experience. Why did I say lazy and with no experience? Because people nowad...

Re: New Tournament Cup
I'm in total favour for a Cup that's open for everyone. We could say that would bring a spice of "The Last Man Standing", only with teams. Furthermore, creating random teams on the spot would make things more interesting, IMHO.

Re: New Tournament Cup
Kesslar, did think of it, but it is not rocket science to find out that there is no simple way around, and the profit isn't something too huge. I'm being realistic on the matter. I repeated myself many times because the OP required me to do so. You can be optimistic if you want, but I prefer result....
