Re: my devotion to BZFlags
Good thing you changed the icon colors, it could have gotten confusing with all your icons looking the same!

Re: "Booster" flag/zones.
I think that could be pretty fun, but maybe a bit hard to implement. Maybe possible with a plugin in 3.0.

Re: Idea: Hunt the General
Here's an idea: you could have the general change after 5 minutes (with prior warning for the future general so he can get to safety). That way, he wouldn't get too bored with sitting around, because if he lives long enough he gets to start playing again.

Re: bzadmin idea
I think the patch would be fine, because if you could do something like this:
In the game, your email string would actually be this:
That way, everyone would be happy.
Code: Select all
bzadmin --email="This is a custom email string"
Code: Select all
(bzadmin | This is a custom email string)

Re: What is your key mapping / what is the best key mapping
All my keys on the keyboard are the same as default IIRC, but the mouse I changed a bit. Left Mouse = Shoot Middle Mouse = Drop flag Right Mouse = Identify/Lock/Spawn Mysterious Tiny Left Mouse = Radar Zoom .05 Mysterious Tiny Right Mouse = Radar Zoom .5 Wheel Up = Jump Wheel Down = Shoot (for shot ...

I'm 13 how can I change my account so the forum knows this?
I just turned 13 yesterday, and I want to have the forum know this. How would I go about doing this?

Might want to reduce the perspective on the treads a little, the two blue blobs look a little odd.

That's really tiny. Are the variables for shot speed and gravity and everything the same as normal, or scaled down?

Re: special bullets
I believe that would be impossible, at least in BZFlag 2.0.X, because shots are tracked by the client and not the server. In 3.0 it might be possible with a plugin.

That idea for a map could be done by making a very large shock wave world weapon (though it might not look as nice).

New server variables for controlling wind
I think it would be an interesting addition to BZFlag to have wind. Wind would blow tanks and/or shots gently in one general direction, similar to wind in real life. All the aspects of wind could be controlled by server variables, described below. _windDirection [0-360] This variable controls the di...

Re: Ratfink's BZFlag Tutorial - 1. The MoFo Jump
I figured out the problem. Apparently, there are some strange problems with Firefox when a file is saved as .xhtml . I renamed them to .html , and now it works fine. Silly ol' Firefox! Now to work on the tutorials...

Re: Ratfink's BZFlag Tutorial - 1. The MoFo Jump
Thanks for the offer, but I have a nice HTML/CSS template I made myself already. However, it doesn't work right on Firefox, so I need to fix that somehow.LeeM wrote:If you supply the screenshots, I could make an HTML page and/or a PDF file for you.

I'm working on converting it to an HTML page, but progress is slow (mostly because of school). It should be finished in a week or so.

Re: RatBZEdit needs help!
All the dependencies and the URIs of their home pages are listed in the README file. It is up to you to download and install them. I can't possibly have instructions for installing each program on each operating system, so I suggest if you need help to look in the proper place (forum or mailing list...

RatBZEdit needs help!
As many of you may know, I am currently making a BZFlag map editor in Python called RatBZEdit. The only problem is that I don't know OpenGL. If you know Python and OpenGL, I would greatly appreciate your help. The RatBZEdit web page can be found here . If you are interested in helping the project, l...

Ratfink's BZFlag Tutorial - 1. The MoFo Jump
I am currently working on a set of animations designed to teach people various tricks in BZFlag. The first one is about the MoFo Jump, a trick to get to a box directly above you that can't ordinarily be reached. If you have any questions or comments, please post them here.

Re: Hide and Seek game mode
Yeah, I understand what you mean, and it would be interesting. It isn't quite hide and seek, but still sounds pretty fun. You're right about letting hiders shoot, as long as there is a whole team of seekers. Of course, it's not very far off from HTF. I suppose it could also be accomplished by having...

Hide and Seek game mode
A few days ago, I got the idea for a new game mode, namely, Hide and Seek. Here's how it would work. One player (or possible multiple players) is randomly selected as the "Seeker". All the players that are "Hiders" will spawn on the "Base". The hiders are given a certai...

Where can I find the documentation for the plugin? I only have the plugin because it came with BZFlag.
