I think that with the exceptions noted by SGI (unless it's a different read: better, implementation), that they're great ideas. I would definitely _not_ kick the admin that did the kicking, perhaps they're there simply as an observer -- taking care of the admin duties? I dunno, just seems contrary t...

patlabor221 tried to explain to me once the culling mechanism that bz uses, and iirc, indicated that it is extremely inefficient. I don't know whether that has been modified for the new code base (oc trees and what not), but that should give everyone a boost fps wise (making the larger / more comple...

It depends on whether or not I've got vsync limits enabled. For example, if I do limit it, then obviously my fps is limited to the vsync of my monitor. If I unlock vsync limits (in windows), or use my linux client, then it goes anywhere from ~80-199 (depending on the map). If I have time, I'll try i...

Here's a quick thought: if you have such a massive problem with bzflag, or the developers, please grab some source or (GASP!) write your own, free, online 3d tank battle game, and show us your superior coding / project management skills. I.E. put up or shut up. One more negative or derogatory word o...

xine is independent of whatever desktop manager you're using. As was stated before, if you have any sound apps open while you try to run bzflag, bzflag will not be able to open the /dev/dsp device to play audio. You can start bzflag from the command line, and then quit. Then look right below the lin...

As is typical of the BZflag development team -- the Windows version source code does not compile in Microsoft Visual C++ V6. Problems with socklen_t* and stranscmp (which supposedly is only needed for the MacOS). And, the project structure the BZflag development team has established is retarded. Ot...

if you have some sort of terminal thingy on OSX, you can start bz like this: bzflag -anonymous I don't know how shortcuts work on OSX (little pointy clicky desktop things), but if you can modify the command for it, just add that -anonymous part to it, and it'll remove you user@localhost or whatever ...

it's a matter of focus, iirc. It seems that fluxboxes' window focus model is odd, and if you don't have the window managed by flux (I always run in windowed, as opposed to fullscreen mode), then the brightness works ok. If you run it out of a terminal, then you'll have to click on the window title b...
