the strafe/touring box
I have this idea that I experimented with. It kinda works, but has intermittent problems. Basically, I made a mesh box with the ends open and a teleport at each end. The floor of the box has a linear physics driver that moves you toward the teleport at the far end of the box. The mesh on the outside...

horizontal teleports and other tricks
I too have been interested in this idea, however as you have discovered, it isn't available yet. However...I have some thoughts on a workaround, it's kinda clunky: Basically, build a deep box with a teleport inside it. there is no way out of the box, except to go through the teleport. Now, put anoth...

Map making ethics
Ummmm...silly question. With the ability to "save" a map you are playing on, is it considered rude to "borrow" somebody else's map objects/techniques for one's own map? Or is it a given that if you put up a map, you are essentially releasing your creation into the public domain?

Thank you as well
I shall have to take a look into doing this. I run a "bootleg" server on the LAN at work. The computers are all Windows XP, but I load up a Knoppix3.8 disk in console mode on an unused computer, put bzfs and my maps into the Knoppix ramdisk from a USB key, then run the Knoppix sshstart scr...

Thank you
I did some fiddling around at work and finally understood what you had done. Thank you for your reply, it was most helpful. I do have one other question, though. From your code example, you can specify a face with FOUR vertices? I tried it earlier, but got some wierd effects. However, it took me a b...

Tricky jump-through floors
The "Tower" map objects by LouMan allow you to jump up through the underside of a floor and land on the upper side. How is this done? I removed the "drivethrough" tags and the ability to do this went away. Is this something that can only be done with pure meshes? If you use drive...

My server
Alas, my server sits behind a firewall, which is probably a good thing, since if I had people coming in from outside to visit, it might attract some unwanted attention. Right now there are only three players, including me. I have asked others, but so far, nobody has shown up. The server itself may b...

next iteration
I haven't messed with setting the flag situation much, just sort of left it standard. I think what I am going to do is set up a series of zones in the very center. If you want a good flag, ya gotta go there and deal with the nastyness. By the way, this is my first map attempt. Hopefully it is not to...

MegaDrome: Blood Arena
I still got lots of stuph to do to it. I know my code is probably pretty ugly, since I sort of do stuff as it occurs to me going by what I see in my head. I just got done fiddling with the teleporters, and haven't tested them, so they may not be working correctly. The inside of the four at the top o...

teleporters
I would like to see "flat" teleporters that could be driven over rather than through. I also think it would be cool to be able to hide teleporters. Another possibility would be a flag that allows the bearer to change the way teleporters link simply by passing through those he wishes to lin...

up to date list of map commands
I am working on my first map but all I know about are the basic box, pyramid, teleporter items, how/where do I find a comprehensive list of newer items/commands, etc?
