Regarding Star Wars and The Matrix

I was there that night chiming in on the crossover potential of Star Wars, The Matrix and Lord of the Rings and I loved the title "Revenge of the Smith" so I made a funny of it ; ) to serve as a "trailer" for my Star Wars sound pack for BZFlag. Here's the link: http://xtivity.hou...

Oh Boy

I don't know if this is more embarassing than funny becasue I despise all the "gerbil' jokes I hear but one night I was chatting with my usual bad typing skills and when a player asked, "Where are you?" I replied, "I'm in gere." (I was inside a building he was near and my fi...

Thanks!

Thanks Trepan--good to know it can be done.

Too bad we can't eliminate the "yellow glow" you get in proximity to a teleport.

Thanks for the attempt ogre.

Just my two cents

I always considered that anyone could use my maps however they liked. I wouldn't like it if I had a custom map on my own server and someone set up the exact same thing to steal players away to theirs but other than that here's why I don't mind. 1) Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...I like...

now...

...if only someone would figure out how Pinnacle Studio 8.8 managed to knock out my chipset and audio device drivers in all three operating systems at one time including the ones that weren't running and why I can't reinstall the correct drivers for my windows xp soundcard.

And The Winner Is....

Sir-Lance-A-Lot's bat file! Ok here are the contents of the simple bat file that I have SUCCESFULLY run a server with tonight. The only conditions were that I insured they all were in the core "BZFlag2.0.0" folder: @Echo On bzfs.exe -world hix.bzw -publicaddr 192.168.1.2:5154 -j -sb -fb I...

Cool

Great help here--I didn't have a chance to get on today but these are really useful ideas--love the mulitple choices.

I too seem to have an issue with the "conf" files and have used a batch file in the past successfully.

Great responses--thanks so much.

This is the old BZ I know ;)

A cool idea

What if mines could act as "bad flags" when hit as opposed to destroying you?

Could be entertaining.

Sigh...one last attempt...again

Ok--here's the deal... I have run batch files, conf files, command line prompts, sleepy cow setups, bzflag.org setups, forum setups--the list goes on. Previously I couldn't even get a world to run on my desktop but I switched to Win98 and setup 2.0.0 and selected the "server" command it ad...

Seriously

You could put some of those "low rider" shocks under it for force feedback. An air cannon for gun sound effects (you will need a hydraulic pump and air compressor for these). A paintball gun that fires into your chest for each bullet that hits you is a must. A set of police emergency light...

FYI--Anim8tor

Anim8tor--Good program to make sure it's compatible with--it's free and a lot easier than Blender for the uninitiated (as in "me").

Duh

Who you'se callin' stoopid, eh? I didn't say the mines would look like flags in the window view--JUST on radar. The clue that you are seeing a mine and not a flag would be when you see a flag on your radar but NONE in your window. Like real life, this creates risk and uncertainty that slows down tho...

Ahem

For simplicity, you only need to mark the mine on radar as a "flag". This means you can't "see" it --as in real life but you can detect it if you are careful -- as in real life. Would blend in with burrows and flags on ground. Another option is let the server designate objects as...

Gee

I can't believe a rodent had to correct your relativistic physics. What kind of lame household appliance are you? ;) I knew about Lorentz contractions becasue once I ran so fast in my wheel at night that I contracted enough to slip between the bars of my cage.( I knew sitting next to that cyclotron ...

You are incorrect sir!

You shrink in real time as you approach relativistic speeds. It is counter intuitive but true. It's called a "Lorentz contraction" and there are other theorists who have postulated it as well. It has been proven in high speed research aircraft, by the way. Here's an excerpt from a scientif...

As you approacH relativistic speeds you do get "shorter" (tinier to be more precise).

Not just secretplace

Was pretty much most of the servers I played on past few days--hopefully, the exuberance will wear off in a while and they will settle down.

For now it's still IRRITATING.

Ok..Ok

Alright...I admit it...I lied because I didn't want anyone to call the authorities and try to stop this.

It's all real...it's all true--I wanted to see the carnage. I am a bad man.

Maybe my honesty now will serve as penance--maybe it's not to late to stop the insanity.
