Re: Faster Rabbits
You are taking away the opportunity for highly skilled players who can hold off a bunch of others to truly shine. As I said, I usually/always see that rabbits die a lot; as much as it makes rabbit chase gamestyle hard to enjoy. I really don't remember or don't see at all those "highly skilled ...

Named Flags
Maybe it would be good if, as a server argument, we could set names on flags using their simple letters identifications. In example, for Stealth one, getting "ST" drawn into the flag (not over; though maybe this could be another option); for High Speed one, "V"; etc. Should they ...

Faster Rabbits
Why? Because, in the real life rabbit chase, the rabbit has this advantage; if not, as nowadays, the rabbit dies a lot (think on 9 vs. 1, i. e.). I understand it is not possible by plugins since we want still allow it to get flags at once. Maybe, also, allowing to set its speed variation through a v...

Re: Text receive?
I think he means he, as observer, might get 'not responding'. Then, as 'nr' doesn't appear in observer mode, and the other players can think he is there still and can be trying to chat to him, he might worry about not being able to respond them. He commented it to us recently in-game.

Re: Mapchange Poll Suggestion
I agree with the API idea. Other case where to be used would be: when you want to '2 in'. Then 1 message appears to players and they have to vote. Incommers have the '/join <partner>' command; somewhat similar to make an offi match on 1vs1 servers. And players would have the complete info about who ...

Re: Youtube Channel
I just noticed it was with sound. Yes, it is almost inaudible. Please, if can, use Audacity on the sound track/s and "Normalize" them. Then, edit the video adding the new audio tracks and upload it again. To video editting you could use Pitivi if on linux, or if not, http://alternativeto.n...

Re: Converting ANSI colored logs to documents (v. 3)
After some important changes made in the BZ code related to "/savemsgs" , I am updating the script. Changes made: - After the addition of timestamps in log names --> I group all logs into only one file called "msglog.txt" (original files keep unmodified). (Also the "-t"...

I can see, then, that there could be 3 groups of servers, instead of 2: - family-friendly servers (neither bad nor mild words are allowed) - intermediate servers (mild words are allowed; bad words are not allowed) - non-family-friendly servers (either mild and bad words are allowed) What do you thin...

I have been thinking for a long time now about this; it is something which makes me worry a lot; then, I was trying to figure out a solution and I think I got it finally. It is about protecting people; little and no so little (;) ones about bad words/topics/ambience or related maps. The idea is to m...

Better chat system
I suggest these features: - adding a shadow, similar to the console one, under the text, then it is more visible. But only when you type, not always. - if possible (maybe it's an old implementation/development), improving the speed of the general input system of the keyboard. I note the reaction lik...

Re: Game Networking Improvement
I have in general 200 or 300 ms of lag, depending if I am playing in NA or EU (I am from SA). As BZFlag is a complex game, IMO, adding still more info would make it more complex to manage, remembering that it is also an arcade game, which requires speed for reactions/thoughts (it is like a simulator...

Re: Ducati Mini Map
I am not against, tho I don't like minis in general; they are too demanding: action all the time, you can't think, etc. Seems a good idea for 2vs2 matches; but, also, depending on tastes. I would try it this way. jadespacy (Pie servers) answered me once that if we had a 4s match, then, that would be...

Re: Setting up a game server on a headless FreeBSD machine
I did a quick search but FreeBSD seemed too complex to understand easily (I am user of GNU/Linux mostly). But, what I suppose, is that together with the 'graphical version', as you say, comes the entire directory tree (all the files) which are into every BZFlag release (bzflag, bzfs, bzadmin, plugin...

Re: Rules: review and maybe revise/update
The players of a league should especially be mindful of their sportsmanship. If you're unable to control your use of foul language, then perhaps it's best to unbind the chat keys from your game. For instance, I would assume most sporting leagues have rules or guidelines against using profanity. Why...

Also, they are mentioned into the Help page in the main site: http://bzflag.org/help . Note: I have noticed that freenode.net sometimes ...

More specifically, if you send a message to several recipients, as soon as one of them reads it, the message goes to "Sent messages", no matter if the others do it or not. Also, you can still edit it until this happens (just don't take much time because they can read it just before you sen...

They are different *continents*, and North America is a *subcontinent* of the whole America one, according to my point of view (see note #1). 1) if this was derived in any way from any of our samples then the license must be LGPL. When you use "derived" word related to any GPL family license, you shouldn't be vague, saying "in any way". When you use legal language, you should restrict your words to legal words. In thi...

Re: Quoted messages issue into user's posts searchs
Well, as far as I could see, it is a BBCode (quotes, links, etc.) parser fault when you do a search and the found messages are longer than the maximum value set per result. Smilies are affected too. References: It was reported around 7 years ago (!) and it seems still not fixed (it is happening in t...

[SOLVED] Quoted messages issue into user's posts searchs
