I ran into a problem today on a server I frequent - not admin abuse, just general ineptitude. I'm embarrassed to say that I could feel myself lowering to other people's levels, in terms of language and troll-feeding. I think the major problem here is that there aren't enough well-known servers that ...

Quite an interesting map. The block count made it a bit laggy for intense play, but after lowering the graphics quality it was fine. I think jump height would need to be increased on the server so you don't lose as much height between buildings. Other than that, it would make for a very interesting ...

I play on grassroots and (very frequently) hepcat. I haven't seen any admin abuses there. Then again, I never really run into the admins, or if I do I don't strike up much of a conversation with them. And of course, I'm rarely number one in score. The only admin problems I've witnessed first-hand in...

Both of those ideas fit in perfectly. I suppose the remaining question would be how would the team decide what to do with land? Who would make the call about whether to create a dynamic teleporter, a defense system, or a fort (or whatever else is added in)? One possibility would be to give that powe...

That'd be pretty neat, but we sort of already have that in the Rabbit mode. Hmm.. wonder if we could do that with teams - One team defends, the others try to capture their flag to become the new central team, etc.

Er, not sure how it's like King of The Hill. Ok I have an idea for what land ownership can be used for. What if a tank could "claim" land manually, after earning the right to do so via kill scores? The person would travel to the desired place and begin a semi-time-consuming claiming proces...

Actually I originally wasn't thinking of stored settings on the server - I figured the person would rebudget their points manually every time they logged in, with no extra benefit to registered users. But lil dog brings up a neat point. It would be interesting to make getting powerups/points a conti...

Oblomov, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were referring to the team power thread - I didn't associate your name with that topic. :) I'm talking about a completely separate proposal. The only similarities are that you could have an innate ability to possess certain flag powers (Jump and Tiny for inst...

Quite possible.. As my name implies, I'm a bit lazy, and didn't search for the topic ;)

Whatever is added, it should be able to be toggled off in Options for the low-bandwidth users. A custom image for the team flag would be nice, but it's not like any text on a tank would be easily visible.

Is there any significance to gaining land, or is it basically a neat way to keep score, with no more value than counting pegs or numbers? Like, would there be special benefits to owning land such as getting alerted when an enemy walks by, or maybe previewing flags that fall on that territory, etc?

Explicit teamwork eh? That'd be nice, but in the chaos of a high-play map - especially secretplace - I barely have time to breath before I'm blasted apart again, much less get a message out about potential threats and useful flags. Like many others, I just rely on implicit assumed duties, based on o...

Seems a little plain - granted I only gave it a *very* brief glance - but maybe I'm just expecting a lot after playing the Two Castles map. At the very least though, it's inspired a map idea of my own.

Team specialization - multiple chassis

This is a little out-there, but I thought it'd be neat. Division of tasks and defense is an excellent element to CTF games, especially when the level allows for hiding places and bunkers. I think it would be even better if you could somehow customize your tank, to further specialize your role in com...

That could really work. It'd be pretty complicated, but it handles the problem of balancing between the teams. So, would it be a majority thing, where if 51% of the people have a laser you get one by default too? Or maybe a random chance of drawing a special power weighted by the number that current...

Default innate powers.. I like it. That would be a very interesting feature if it were well balanced. But then you would have a lot more people switching teams to find the powerup they like.

I have everything enabled including lighting. As for time of day, I normally leave it on server default, and don't mind when the sun rises or sets. It's not too hard to play on both equally.

Reaction: Great map, allows for excellent fortified positions and a trench that a superbullet can't break. I initially hated the keep/base setup, until in a classically newbish moment I realized there was a slowdown feature for keyboard control, which would allow me to reach the platform. :D The adm...

I play there regularly to warm up. I overuse jumping when given the ability. Oh, and it's nice to play on a map without 10 shots, so you have a chance to live.
