Re: New BZFlag homepage

I can only see screen shot(s) from the videos. If I try to play them all I get back is "no video with supported format and mine type found" in FIrefox 66.0.2 (32-bit) on the most up to date LTS Lubuntu. Here's a shot in the dark, but if you view the homepage in Incognito or Private mode i...

Re: New BZFlag homepage

Works for me with Firefox on both 32-bit Lubuntu 16.04 and 18.04. Would it better to, ask elsewhere? and if so, where a general Unix/Linux or a **buntu board? In the meantime as I wait a reply, how about: #1 Putting the videos on YouTube (if they are not already on there). #2 And then posting a lin...

Re: New BZFlag homepage

Cool :) I am not sure of where this goes, but if I posted in the wrong area - please tell a mod/an admin to split and move it to the right area. If I posted on the wrong website with message board, please tell me. I can only see screen shot(s) from the videos. If I try to play them all I get back is...

A way to download within bzflag the map?

#1 I heard/read in https://forums.bzflag.org/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=20163 that The client never receives the actual world file. Only the server has all of the map file information. The client's save world feature recreates a BZW file from the binary object data that the client receives from the se...

The client never receives the actual world file. Only the server has all of the map file information. The client's save world feature recreates a BZW file from the binary object data that the client receives from the server, so it will not match the original map file. Additionally, it won't know ab...

Re: King Of The Ring by ahs3

Yes, you guy/gals misundstand. Try this. #1 Connect to bzflag.ahs3.org:5555. As need be, find it with /mapchange #2 If no one is there, press n or m and issue the command /mapchange kingring #3 Go to Options -> Save World . Then save the file to your HD. #4 Now that you have the file on your HD, joi...

King Of The Ring by ahs3

I see at http://bzstats.strayer.de/servers/stats/?serverid=44826&lang=en that ahs3 is the owner of that server. Now, I have to ask how does he/she/they/you do that? For example at https://forums.bzflag.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=12575 and at https://wiki.bzflag.org/Koth they both have the keyw...

Re: Not all weapons should do 100% damage

I'm somewhat busy at the moment with current projects and requests, but would be able help create either a plug-in or the client/server modifications needed at a later time. At the moment, I would be able to offer some guidance on where to look and what to do as well, if that alternative is viable....

Re: Not all weapons should do 100% damage

1. The tutorial is for 2.x, so it would not work for 2.4.x, but some things can still be referenced from it. 2. I'm assuming it would be four and is likely hard coded. 3. Depends on a number of factors. 4. A simple fork is easy and even trivial, but having a fork which is modified will vary on the ...

Re: Not all weapons should do 100% damage

So, if I were fork BZFlag.. #1 I (or someone else) would also have to setup a private list server, that is public REF = https://wiki.bzflag.org/Private_List_Server ? #2 While I get that the protocol would have to be changed, what is the limit on characters? For example at http://my.bzflag.org/db/ I ...

Last time that I checked at http://my.bzflag.org/listkeys/ it said...

Re: Not all weapons should do 100% damage

Why would you even want that? If you want to balance or imbalance flag potency, you can do it already by adjusting server variables respective to the flags in question and keeping the idea of a single shot killing a tank. Because there are games you do not kill the other player's tank with a single...

Re: Not all weapons should do 100% damage

Ok. Before saying yes to the client/server mod and incompatible with other existing and future versions/servers, I have to ask: Would it be worth it to do this/that? Last check with-in BZFlag for 2.4.* there is/are 165 servers with 27 players and 6 obses. Unsure of GCWZ0221 and other versions of bzf...

Not all weapons should do 100% damage

I have this ideas that not all weapons should do 100% damage. If that is possible in native code, perhaps it could be done with a plug-in. Since I am not a programmer, I have no idea of how this would done to the T in the source code / writing my own plug-in. Sure I can follow directions and get cer...

Re: two hour limit on posting work around - file hosting

Just make a new post in the thread for that map release. As others stated, this creates a notification of an unread post, which should draw the viewers to the updated info. The ability to edit original posts to remove outdated versions of maps is a valid use case, but unfortunately is has been lost...

Re: two hour limit on posting work around - file hosting

Zehra interesting suggestion. but no third party file hosting. I am going with the last two post in this thread (by allejo and by tainn). The map poster is to bump the thread to top. Why not use file hosting services? Old files and accounts are deleted constantly or services just shut down; so many ...

two hour limit on posting work around - file hosting

I over heard/read in https://forums.bzflag.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=20144 @ahs3 Yes, currently there is a two hour limit, which hasn't changed from what I'm aware of. (See Posts? forum thread.) One thing to consider for updating map files without creating a new post, would be using a file hostin...

Server List question - Protocol ID not starting with BZFS?

While at http://bzstats.strayer.de/servers/stats/?lang=en I noticed that BZFS is listed as the protocol and most of the servers on the list server ( http://my.bzflag.org/db/ ) start with BZFS, expect that there is/are some servers at rahab.fairserve.net that are listed as GCWZ0221. My question is, w...
