nah, defman, no need to switch from mandrake -- if you have gcc installed, simply grab the source tarball (if one's available now), untar it (tar xzvf bzflag-whateverversion.tar.gz), and then cd to the bzflag directory. From there, run this: $./autogen.sh This will build it. To run bzflag, cd bzflag...

we shall not repress opinions here ... actually I quite like it, but that's besides the point.

There really _should_ be some way to equalize a CTF game when it's 4 v 2. But then again, I don't play much CTF, so what do I know? ;)

I imagine that this will get solved once the server is responsible for state checking of client data. Not sure if this is implemented yet, but it's in the works if it hasn't already been started.

oi, with all them objects, I'd have to do some heavy work -- but I imagine, if you did some sort of a search within the file for any values > 400 square (i.e. the bounds of the world, you'd find the box), if you did a search for all things at a high Z, then you'd find the teleporter. I'm on a differ...

I had that same issue earlier, not sure what it is -- it may be some leftover funkiness from the cisco shenanigans that were happening last week and the week before, dunno. If you use 1.7g2, you can enable the 'server list cache' mode, and the client'll store a cache of servers (for just such a reas...

gerb,
as I mentioned in a different thread, this map has 2 objects well outside the bounds of the world. One is a box, the other a teleporter (the teleporter may be intentional, I'm not sure)

thank you gerbil -- by the way, your gerbil lair map has 2 objects that are _well_ outside the realm of the world boundaries -- one is a box, the other is a teleporter.

pass bzflag the -window -geometry <size of one monitor> option?

I am unsure, that's just a guess, but it seems logical

i.e. $bzflag -window -geometry 1600x1200

or whatever resolution your primary monitor is on.

I like both, though I don't play CTF as much as I would like -- FFA is mostly stress relief.

Slap a 'both' option in there ;)

personally, I liked the 'ass-cannon' from patlabor221's bzflag:zero client -- I also liked the 'sidestep' jump.

Those as flags, or options, would be very cool, imho
