MI6

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but ah well.

I would like several other members to be in MI6 with me.
OO7 and I are the heads of the organization, but we need some members.

There are 18 tentative slots, (or whatever you call them), open.

Here's the catch: we'd like some relatively experienced users.
I'm not saying new users cant be brought in, but the first 6 slots will held for more advanced users/players. These players will most likely get cop privileges on the MI6 maps. The contest for those is currently running.

The other 12 slots will be for recruits. Rank and status will be kept track of on our MI6 webpage, which is in the process off being created.

So, if you feel you would like to be a part of this, heres what we need from you:
•BZFlag name
•Whether you feel you are a recruit or advanced player
•Some method of contact.

Thats it!

Name: Joe-Schmoe
Advanced player (I think...you mean "good at the game" as opposed to "good at making mods/maps/servers" right?)

Your name is just there so I can copy it exactly into stats.bzflag.org.
And so I can add you into the groups.

I use the stats to see how well you appear to play. It can be hard to judge, depending on how long you have been playing.

For now, we have added both of you to the advanced group. Since OO7 actually administrates the group, it should say he has added you in the confirmation email.

The webpage for MI6 is up and running at: http://torborg.com/OO7/MI6/MI6.html

You might wanna fix that "Untitled Document" title on the webpage...

I'd also advise to getting rid of the tables, or at least make the border=0..

Thanks for the input Winny. I always forget to change the Untitled Document part. I don't know why.

I'm a bit confused here: You sent an email to us? My email is acting up right now (trying to config outlook), so I can't get to it.

When you are added to a bzflag group, a email notice/confirmation is sent to you. What email provider do you use?

Gmail, but my address recently changed. It's ready, so I'll change it, then I can get it.

If you haven't changed it in your profile, it would have sent to your old address.

Ummm...I was wondering if I could be added to the advanced league. I've been playing for about 1 year.

You don't need to see the email to know if you were added to the group. Just click on Usergroups at the top of the page.

Thats very true, blast.

Alright Joe. You too have been added.
Just as a fair warning, people may be switched around a little.

When will a server be up and running? Also, what permissions did you set for MI6.COP usergroup?

Could get a server up and running soon. I am waiting on th maps, but I could stick a few in I have made....

As for the user permissions, I'm trying to find the file I'm using. I'm having trouble connecting to the server. But as a basic idea, its most permissions, enough to kick, ban, and do most things. Its just the really cool and extreme permissions I reserve for myself.

ACTIONMESSAGE FLAGHISTORY LAGSTATS POLLFLAGRESET POLLKICK PRIVATEMESSAGE SPAWN TALK VOTE POLLKICK POLLBAN KICK ADMINMESSAGESEND ADMINMESSAGERECEIVE BANLIST MUTE UNMUTE PLAYERLIST REJOIN SAY

I think I'll add ban.

I am having a few issues getting the server running properly. My main problems are that the groups don't load, and that the server does not display on the serverlist.

The server can be connected to at: tadd.dyndns.org:5154
BUT it is supposed to display as oo7.game-host.org:5154 on the serrrverlist, which it does not.

AND it wont even verify users.

Until we get these sorted out, the most we can do is add you guys to the appropriate usergroups.

Another problem: I cannot keep the server up if I close Terminal. I am going to sort that out soon, hopefully.

Use screen for your terminal issue. ctrl+a then d to detach.

Yes, thank you. I remembered the screen part, but forgot the ctrl-a and d parts. What do they do?

OO7
Type this in the terminal, then scroll down to Default Key Bindings:

Code: Select all

man screen
Also, you do realize that in order to make it show oo7.game-host.org, you have to register at dyndns.org and create that hostname, right? It's not just magically going to work. You have to make it point to the IP address of the server computer.

Code: Select all

C:\>nslookup oo7.game-host.org
Server: resolver1.opendns.com
Address: 208.67.222.222

*** resolver1.opendns.com can't find oo7.game-host.org: Non-existent domain

So far we have 3 users out of the 12 expected, while we have a capacity for 18. Please feel free to sign up.

As a note: recruits can easily advance to the advanced status.

Your server instantly crashes BZFlag when I try to join it. I think it needs a fix?

EDIT: And I'm on the roster twice...
