irc question

Post by Whiskey »

Hey guys. I haven't ever tried to use #bzflag until recently, but I can't find irc.freenode.net. Is is still the same or has it changed? Also, is this still where we should meet before matches? While I've been playing the game for a while, I've never needed to use this channel until now. Thanks for your help.

Yes, it is still irc.freenode.net. I may not show up on the list of servers, just add it. There is also a new channel #bzleague, which is more suited for league stuff, so as to offload some of the #bzflag traffic for the developers. What irc program are you using ?

In case the default port of 6667 is blocked for some reason (maybe you can test that), port 7000 should also work for the freenode irc servers.

thanks for your help guys, but I've come to the conclusion that Mizzou has fire-walled irc usage. At first I thought I just couldn't connect to #bzflag, but as it turns out I can't connect to any servers or channels. I don't know why they would do that, but it's not the first thing they've done that makes no sense. For instance, file sharing is only possible between midnight and four a.m. unless you use bittorrent.

Well, thanks again. I'll just have to come up with something else for now.
