Yeah, that's the exact exploit I was referring to. :)

Two reasons:
1. I'm not sure that the svn version is considered 'stable' - is it?
2. I don't have an svn client on the server, so a few extra steps for me

Good idea about the talk perms - I don't think non GU players can talk on the official servers either can they?

I suppose I can change the port to 5158, I didn't notice what port the official servers use (tho I did see they suggest 5159 for the replay server).

Cheers

Yes, the 2.0.x SVN is stable. I use it for Missile Wars 2 and Badgerking. And I'm pretty sure mofo uses it as well.

Also, the 2.0.x SVN doesn't really change that much anymore (since that version is basically dead as we're focusing on what will become 3.0.0 now), so you could always grab the tar.gz from the websvn viewer.

Quols, longdons, bzf, brads all use 2.0.13. Like blast already pointed out, it is fine to use.

also some gameover perms for all GU players would be needed too ;)

Ummm, the fact that I'm seeing this warning:

Code: Select all

WARNING:
Publicly listed bzfs servers must login using the '-publickey <key>'
option. A web page describing list-server policies and procedures
  can be found here:

    http://my.bzflag.org/w/ServerAuthentication
and my server doesn't appear on the public list probably means I've grabbed the wrong source from svn, yes?

That means you have trunk source, that is 2.99.x. You want the v2_0branch code.

ok thanks Jeff, works fine with the correct source

Server is now running on port 5158, version is 2.0.13. The replay server is up on port 5159. There is even a "test file" (just me driving around for 60secs :) on there which can be played confirming that the replay side is working.

All gu-league have /timelimit and /gameover perms (and /countdown of course). Talk now restricted to GU-League too. So I think that is about it isn't it?

Thanks for all the help...over to GU-Admins now :D

Cheers
Grans

i dint really know if im correct here. anyone please correct me if im wrong. but i recall that GU match servers dont have a timelimit setting. only 30 min matches can be played????

You are correct, there are only 30 minute matches allowed. You can never do a fifteen/twenty/any other minute match and count it as official.

But the timelimit is usefull if you continue a match, zac.

Correct. The purpose of the time limit is to allow you to play any remaining time that you have left in a postponed match. Official matches are 30 min only.

Is there any rule against a shorter (say 15min) fun match played on an official match server?

No, you can take any timelimit you want for a funmatch. It's a funmatch so there is no rule for the timelimit. But official matches MUST be played 30 mins.

A new official match server has been made available:

enuffsaid.co.nz:5158
(Also, there is a replay server at port 5159.)

We send out a big thanks to Grans Remedy for hosting this for the league. Please report any problems or concerns.
Great thanks Grans Remedy

yea, I asked TRB couple months back, but he's been very busy. He hasn't had the time to change to trb.guleague.org yet either. :)

Well that's great news, thanks.

ummm - do you mean a sub-domain like nzl.guleague.org pointing at the same ip as enuffsaid.co.nz or putting up a website somewhere?

Well for one thing, having something like nzl.guleague.org would be cool, just 'cause that's what all gu league servers have.

The other thing was setting up a match-listing website, as seen on http://quol.bzflag.bz/bzmatches or http://brad.guleague.org/matches (the other servers have it too). It's very handy to have.

try again zac and make sure you're high enough up on the pillar. under 5 units it goes up, over 5 units it goes mid. I had no problems at Gran's place.
