Most important reason for using bbcode is to avoid too complex html code (or css or scripts) in user comments and profiles. Making it more flexible decrease site security level.

BTW. Maybe you don't know, but bbcode brings you a lot of stuff:

Sorry, my text was misleading there. Maybe it became clearer during the conversation with blast yesterday night (http://ibot.rikers.org/%23%23guleague/20110205.html.gz). I'm just saying that logical markup is more practical when it comes to different stylesheets than physical markup.

That means you're only unhappy with the implemented default bbcode rules. These could be all deleted and replaced by a custom set of rules. However the improvements would be minimal at best. Even in your example you'd be still able to select the element using css.

The only problem that could affect end users are colours in bbcode, as these need to fit each theme.

I agree that Hx tags is one thing that is missing in bbcode, but I think all the rest is enough - you still can simply use it in your css stylesheet.
And I think I know why headers are not allowed - those bbcode text are usually used for messages, news, some text on site - and it already in a structure with some logic (and headers!). Making it different way could break that and site administrator will have no control about html structure.

But. I think some league site modules could have some wysiwyg instead of bbcode. I mean those managed only by admins, especially static pages with informations, faq, refs list and other stuff.

Well, WYSIWYG needs a backend implementation and one would need to check the output generated. You'd soon end up with people wanting to edit the output directly and then they do bad markup there. Thus a WYSIWYG-editor should transform input into bbcode which should then be transformed into the output one wants.

If it'll be managed with only few admins - I'd say there will be no need for that.

We have WYSIWYG in every application we develop at my workplace, and most user don't have any problems with that. I don't think bz players will do ;)
And of course I'd like to put it on static pages only, which are managed by short group of ppl, not everyone.
