Very excited, this will be my first Rikers! :) and it will be wonderful if you can make it on a Sunday. (Saturday, if a bit late) And I don't completely understand this process, but how will I be able to participate?

You will sit in Observer and cheer in Teamchat (<-- that is important)

Can I cheer in all chat?

In Riker, as it should be in all matches, there is no public chatting from obs during the matches.
There is zero tolerance for match disruption.

I have a question though. Will the observers be able to be in the match itself? If not, how do you attend a Rikers as a player for your country/continent.

Usually you get an invite from your captain ahead of Rikers - if you are chosen to play.

How do you get a higher chance of being invited though? :)

Rikers is skilled US players vs skilled Euro players. The teams are chosen by the captains/co-captains together. You don't ask to be on the team...it's by invitation only. It's 10 vs 10.

Don't know who's responsible for the rikers' site, but it needs updating for 2012....where US won both winter(Euro capt/co FS & red-der, US capt/co kierra & R3lax) and summer Rikers (Euro brad/hurricane, US Constitution /klavier) :)

Ok, so you have to be skilled in order to be in the Rikers match. Can anyone be a sub though? :)

snake: its stated above Captains chose the teams. They decide who plays. If you don't get an invite, you don't play period.

I know that somebody had the idea to record a live commentary of the Rikers. Then put it online for those who missed Rikers or maybe attract new players through the competitive gameplay. Would this be an option for this Rikers? If so who would be willing to do this?
Comments, feedback, and further ideas are welcome.

I'm planning to record it, but it'd just be me watching and chatting, no other intended purpose.
But I do like the idea. The game will be recorded as a BZFlag recorded match, right?

I do like the idea too, but it should be someone who understands game tactics quite good.
Even though there are a lot of long-term players I doubt that it'll be easy to find someone who is good at it and is not participating, furthermore is fluent english a criterion.
Maybe there should be even two of them, one for each team so that you can have different perspectives. This would help the moderator to keep track, imo it could be difficult to keep track of the game tactics and besides that comment on player actions (can't handle 20 players).

Would it be possible for it to be posted on YouTube? That would be a very easy source for everyone to access. I am not bothered if people commentate or not, because I understand the game well enough. Maybe though for the people that don't understand the game, it may be helpful and well while. Could also help from an "advertising" point for this game and the leagues.

Admin Edit: no personal attacks please.

I recognized a lot of jitter / lagspikes for all players on match servers, so it's pretty obvious the problem is server related.
Sorrowful I look towards RC, will the servers be working well?

You do realize there is not just one host for match servers, right? There are multiple hosts from various parts of the world. So just saying "match servers" is vague.

Most of the jitt issues and jitt warnings have been on mana's public and match servers, bzf.
Though there has been jitt complaints on brad's gu servers

was speaking of the european servers, as kierra got right. multiple hosts is good, but since the european onces keep having jit spikes it's not really fun to play on them anymore. mana's bzf became really annoying these days, it's a pitty :(
