old unused callsigns: can they be deleted for availability?

Post by QueenAnnsRvnge9 »

i want to use a callsign that i is hasnt been used since i started, which was about six years ago. is there a way the account can be deleted so i can use the name? i thought i saw somewhere that if a callsign that you wanted was already taken, but hasnt been used in over a year, they would remove it so you could use it. anyone know? please help!

How do you know it hasn't been used? We can't tell

In general we do not do this. We do not track when the name is used for playing.

If the name is taken, I'm sorry there isn't much we can do.

Again, how do you know? We certainly don't and we have no way of absolutely knowing, nor do we care. There are lots of callsigns available... find one you like.

We really aren't to concerned about it. we are not going to try and track someone down. It just isn't worth the effort, and what do you say "Hi, can we take your callsign?". That is really user friendly, especially if they are still using it. As I said there are millions of callsigns that are not used, pick one of them.

Well I think this is what marines meant. Ok heres an example of an e-mail

"Hello <User>,

This is a message from BZFlag Forums. According to our statistics, you have not been using your callsign. And we would like to know if this callsign is ready to be available to others since we believe the callsign is not being used anymore. Please send us a an e-mail back or sign on to
irc.freenode.net #bzflag

Thank you for your cooperation,

BZFlag Forums Team."

And maybe you can send this e-mail after what 5 months? Anyway if you think it's a waist of Time i will be more than happy to do that job for you.

I think it's simply rude to say "We want to delete your account now.", so go and pick one of millions of other names and be done with it.
