1vs1 Challenges

Post by SkillDude »

Looking for someone to play 10-12 matches with (This approximates for an hour of play). Must be skilled or experienced in 1vs1. Preferred times: Wednesday,Thursday,Friday,Saturday 12:00PM and later GMT-7.

No lag preference, official matches only, 2 shot ducati-style.

Looking to have some fun and play with someone. I know 10-12 matches sounds tiring, but I always found it interesting when two of the same players go up against each other many times. The process I found is that while both players start off learning each others' playstyles and what to do to counter act them, then they come up with a new strategy that requires its own counter attack, and the process just rolls over on itself. I enjoy this kind of competitive play and would love to play against someone who enjoys a similar one.

Let me know if you're interested, on this topic, with a date in the provided range please. This must be arranged, not on the spot, as it's obviously an enduring task.

I encourage others to follow similar practices, not necessarily the 10-12 matches part, but arrangement of matches.

Hey Sig,
if you consider me skilled and experienced enough:
Challenge accepted.
;-)

I suggest we find a date/ time when we meet each other the next time, that is easier than fill this topic with proposals and counterproposals. I´m quite flexible.

We had our preliminary matches today, they were fun! The results:

Image

red-der: 5 (4 if you only count classic style)
sigonasr2: 3 (My first 3 official victories against red-der I'll admit)

This is in preparation for Wednesday, we will meet at 1:15 PM GMT-7 (20:15 UTC) if anyone is interested in coming to watch.

I recorded our 1vs1's we did today if you care to see any of the gameplay and our playstyles: Part 1 - http://www.twitch.tv/sigonasr2/b/322550236, Part 2 - http://www.twitch.tv/sigonasr2/b/322550423. I'll probably stream the Wednesday ones as well.

We have changed our conditions, we plan to play 50 matches. Oh it will be a blast, I know I will enjoy it. :D

Also, newsflash, Zac and red-der are tied in ZELO at this writing (1499) :P

Yep, all of them got recorded, the live recording can be found here from start to finish: http://www.twitch.tv/sigonasr2/b/322904228. We completed 23 matches. The score ended up being 21-2 with red-der being triumphant. Regardless of win or loss we both had much fun learned a lot about each other and 1vs1. :)

If you want actual individual 1vs1 recordings for the in game replay server, I'd have to dig out the numbers, but they'd all probably be consecutive.

It was indeed a lot of fun.
:D

# we played 23 matches
# it took us 3 hours 10 min
# we had a short break of only 1 min (grabbing some refreshments)
# every bullet/ kill was fought tooth and nail
# the longest match was 11min20
# the shortest 3min48

Some findings:
Playing more than 3 hours straight, fully concentrated, can cause serious side effects:

# zen-like state (you and your tank become one)
# having lots of fun
# sudden laugh outbursts
# skill improvement
# feelings of time distortion (you see the bullets coming in slow motion --> Matrix-style)
# cognitive-motoric dysfunctions (your brain says: dodge, but your hand is just not able anymore)

So be prepared!!
