Leagues United, where are you?

Hello everyone, I'm here to give you an update on what's going on with our progress and it seems many of you are harassing the wrong people. I'd just like to clarify things a bit and say that the GU League administration is not behind this effort of combining the leagues as some of you believe; it's a coincidence that several league admins are involved in this project.

So kierra, where's the progress?

Ok, I guess further clarification is needed... alezakos, Constitution, and myself are the ones who are currently working on getting the new league website written and the data merged/recalculated. Should you have any questions regarding the progress, feel free to reach out and nag me.

So allejo, where's the progress?

Much better! Alright, so here's where we're at right now. Constitution has gotten the data merging and recalculation of the necessary numbers pretty much done; he's smarticle like that. The new website is going to be running a completely different system than the current one, one that's far more complex and powerful.

Here's where we're at:
- The majority of the important functionality on the website is done thanks to alezakos
- GU and Duc data can be merged simply by executing a script and it'll work on the new website
- The design of the website is almost there. There are still quite a few things I need to do, but I genuinely hope the wait will be worth it! The website is mobile responsive meaning you'll be able to easily view the website on your phone without having to zoom in.

Stuff to do + future plans
Current code changes + updates

You want an exact release date? Err... Well. I lost my only calendar last summer and I had a power outage recently so my clock is just flashing 12:00. There's no exact release date planned and any number of things can suddenly pop up. What I can say however is that this is the most confident I've been with progress in a long time. End of January alpha release? Mid/late stable February maybe? Our initial launch may have some bumps but bear with us as we iron them out!

What can you do to help?

Pizza and toast are always nice and filling. Developers are known for converting pizza and caffeine into code. But seriously, visiting the website and reporting any issues you find is really helpful. View the website from your laptop, phone, tablet, 4K monitor, and tell us what looks funky. Click around, login, see if things seem functional, send your teammates a love letter with the new messages system.

Ask your questions here and we'll be more than happy to answer them.

I second this vote!

Identicons are only used when a player or team do not have an avatar set. Once this website is officially used, it'll look more interesting with all sorts of avatars.
Flak 18 wrote:p.s. I would like to know wheather I could help in developing around here.
All of the development for this website is happening on GitHub; it's written entirely in PHP. We're using a lot of components from Symfony and we're using Sass for styling the website. Take a look at the code on GitHub and see if it's something you could dive into. alezakos and I have done our best to document a large portion of the code, whether it be CSS or PHP.

Flak 18 wrote:p.s. The icon I would have chose is this one https://github.com/allejo/bzion/blob/ma ... g_icon.png rather then identicons.(that's only my opinion)
It was a decision fairly early on to use identicons in the event a user or team doesn't have an avatar set. This way, not everyone has the same avatar and identifying different players or teams on pages like the players page or the matches page is much easier without having to sift through a sea of tank icons.

site works flawless for me, no issues to report. I just do not like the white backround, just a matter of preference :). thanks!

A dark theme is planned and will be completed after the current light theme is completed :)

The site worked well for me (using firefox if that is useful information ;)
I merely disliked some of the design decisions such as the huge ingame graphic of that ugly tank at the very top of the starting page, but that's just my (subjective) preference.
I would like to add that I find it amazing, that you (everyone working on this merger and bzf in general) are sacrificing your time for this project, basically providing me with fun entertainment in the evening.; Thanks!
