Post by Mark_53 »

I've been running BZflag for quite a while but now I am not able to start it up. Here is the error message I get:

mark@mark-TP300:~$ bzflag
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 152 (XFree86-VidModeExtension)
Minor opcode of failed request: 10 (XF86VidModeSwitchToMode)

Serial number of failed request: 156
Current serial number in output stream: 158

This is likely the case of an invalid resolution trying to be set.

Or SDL1 setting up the window badly. Generally you can start it windowed, via 'bzflag -window 640x480'. Then you could try hitting the F1 key to toggle to fullscreen, or if that fails, you could try setting a resolution in the Options > Display Settings > Change Video Format menu.

If that all still fails, then you could try either our Snap (Snapcraft) or Flatpak build of the game, or try building the latest stable version yourself against SDL2.

Yes, resetting the resolution to 1366x768 fixed the problem. Thanks!
