Press "," or "." and use the arrow keys to select a recipient...

While we're at it, the "," key will by default open a send private message line pointed at the last person who killed you, or, if you team killed someone, it points at them. Quite handy to send those SRY! and NP! messages back and forth without cluttering up the chat channel.

Also if you use identify on someone, the ',' key sends a message to them. Handy for sending a "nice shot" message to someone you can point at individually.

Also, sometimes using the arrow keys to select a recipient doesn't work (on Macs, at least). Not sure why. I frequently have to use /msg to send private messages.

if its a public message it will appear like this:

rock: 'Message'

If you recieve a private message it will look something similar to this:

[->'Senders Name'] 'Message'

If you send a private message it will look like this:

['Whoever your sending it to'->] 'Message'

Hope that helps :D

I always use /msg to start private messages (unless it was someone I identified, I press ',' then). Also, if you're going to use /msg, it's /msg recipient message. If you're sending to a user with spaces in their callsign, put quotation marks around it.
