Locking Up

Post by gerj »

I have a 2.4ghz computer with 1gb ram and Nvidia FX5200 graphics card
I am having trouble re-spawning after being killed, I just sit there sometimes for 30 second or more before spawning. Also, occasionally the game locks up and I have to restart it. This is really bugging me! Have done broadband speed test and am usually running in mid 4mb speed.

Any ideas?

best to make sure you have the current video drivers from nvidia, as well as making sure that your card is not overheating.

if that is not it, then there may be stability issues with your hardware, or your operating system install.

This is happening to me as well. My issue is my overheating power supply. Also, I notice when I am running a measly 1 program, the game locks up after about 5 min play. The slow spawning, I believe this may be lag. Next time that happens, type something in and see if it shows up immediately or if it takes time.

I do have the most current Nvidia drivers. How do I check for overheating?

If you hear a cracking noise, its on fire. ;)
If you have some heat checker it says the temperature of the video card. Also if you open up the computer and touch the processor and it's really warm or hot, it overheated. The latter would cause you to loose your warranty on any factory built computers. (aka, anything you didn't make)
