Very unique problem, high FPS a problem...

Post by BinarySpike »

I recently got a new computer  FINALLY!!!
I've been a year saving...

Anyway I got a Sapphire Radeon X1650 Pro, It runs all the louman maps at 150+fps on 1024x768 resolution full detail!
When I first ran BZFlag I got on lasermania of course. After about 2 hours of straight gaming I started feeling bad. You know the feeling like you need to get up and walk around, and my head was spinning.

I found out, I had motion sickness :?

Thing is, I have *never* *ever* *ever* gotten motion sickness, so I got on my old computer and played on the lowest res at about 30 fps! and for roughly 4 hours I didn't get any motion sickness whatsoever.

I've been searching... and searching... and searching for how to set the max FPS. I always thought it was _maxFPS but when I try /localset _maxFPS 60

Nothing changes.

I used google, and the forum search but they didn't come back with any results that had a description of maxfps.

I could always just use these next two weeks to train the motion sickness away, but I don't like feeling like that.

Thanks!

In order to use fpsLimit, you must enable the energy saver.

Met is correct, and the default setting for that is 30 FPS.
.Zero showed you how to change the value, but you still need to enable energy saver.

Thought that was deault. In that case,
/localset saveEnergy 1
or check save energy in the options menu

Good luck curing the motion sickness. I've never had that happen to me before with a game :o

I have it running at 60fps and I seem ok.

Hmm what does vsync do? I turned it on but it doesn't make any visible difference.

synchronizes your framerate with your monitor's vertical refresh rate. So if your monitor refreshes at 60hz, then you're Fps will average at 60.
Beware! I'm going to clone myself and spread those clones all over the world!
