hardware problem with new iMac

Hello experts and BzFlager,

I have a large problem with the program "BzFlag" and my new
iMac. My graphic-card doesn't get along with the application of
graphic-card. And thus it falls in irregular distances.

Can someone help me?

Here a single dump from the report, which Apple created after the
crash.

NOTE:
BzFlag version: 2.0.8
I tried also 2.0.4 out same symptoms.

I hope that now finally the newest version is also for Mac OS X ready.
This version is to be able to deal with current hardware better.

Apple shipped the new Imacs with broken hardware. It's a hardware problem, not a software one.

As far as I heard Apple published a firmware update that slows the graphic card down and therefore it won't get so hot again which works around the problem.

If you ran the firmware update, then you've tried that solution and there isn't anything to wait for anymore. If that really is the problem, you could turn down some graphics options in the bzflag display and effects menus.

If you have a copy of Windows, use Boot Camp to create a Windows partition, install Windows, boot up your iMac in Windows, and run the BZ Windows client.

It's faster than the Mac client.

I read above and understand the description of the problem. Zack only reported problems with BZ.

With my iMac and MacBook Pro, the Windows BZ client is faster than the MacIntel client.

JeffM stated in another post that the macintel client sluggishness was related to the Apple drivers.

Consequently, since the problem was isolated to BZ, I suggested that he play BZ in Windows, unless the iMac would have the same problems with the Windows client under Windows. If Zack has a defective computer, he should send it back, of course. If it is hardware defect across the product line, he can send the computer back for repair or return, play in Windows, or both (or neither).

I did not want that even. I wanted from Windows was away have. Plays
generally do not interest me, except BzFlag. Unfortunate those the Clienten all are not equivalent fast. It functions with the version 2.0.10 RC 3.

But nevertheless it falls. In irregular distances. Times in one hour, in a half hour. Is different.
I will try in the next days to look times in the settings.


The BzFlag perfectly does not run on the Mac is unfortunate. On Windows it was better. Around nothing in the world I would deliver mine iMac 24"again.

It's a fairly new iMac, and fiddling with settings doesn't seem to make any difference (hi- or low-resolution, etc.). The only thing "out of the ordinary" is that I lag often due to a shared wireless home connection. Unless this is somehow related to "bad data packets" (which I doubt, but won't rule out) of some kind, I'm interested to know what keeps dying.
