Just registered, and now I can't log on

Post by Two »

I have been playing for a while, but just registered because I wanted to be able to vote in the polls.

Now when I try to log onto Missile War 2 it says this:

"This callsign is registered. You must identify yourself before playing."

Of course it's registered! I just did!

I have entered the correct name and password, but it won't let me on.

Some help please?

Yep, I activated it, otherwise I wouldn't be able to access these forums.

Haha that happens sometimes, basicall you have everything right but there's a minus next to your name when u hit "s" Just try logging out then deleting your username and pass...then just renenter it and try again keep trying that until it works

Did you search our wiki, especially the handy http://my.bzflag.org/w/Common_Support_Issues entry?

So what does the minus next to my name mean?

I can log on to other servers fine, but not Missile War 2.

If there's no plus or minus, that person is not registered,
If there's a minus, that person is registered, but without the password,
If there's a plus, that person is registered with the right password.

Enter your forum password in the Password field in the Join Game menu.

I have entered the same username and password as I use here.

Is there some sort of password length limit or something that I don't know about?

It seems to be 31 characters according to the code for the in-game menu.

Okay, that's not the problem.

Is there a minimum length?

Nope, that didn't fix it either.

Any other suggestions?

Nope. That's what most people think.

No sign means the player either isn't identified or the player hasn't registered.
A minus means the player didn't provided a valid token or entered a wrong password and in both cases server must know that the player is registered.
A plus indicates the player is registered and provided a valid token or entered a correct password.

What does that mean? Well, if I join a server and got no valid token, I probably get no minus.

ts, if they aren't identified, it should show a -, not no sign.

Did you read that link that was posted above, and if so, did you try this?

Yep, I read the Global Login stuff.

The thing is that it seems that I don't have a config file anywhere on my hard drive, including the Application Support.

Well, you should. Look again. Make sure you are checking inside your user directory path.

~/Library/Application Support/BZFlag/2.0/config.cfg

Where ~ is your user directory, probably something like /Users/username/ on OSX.

It worked!

Thanks so much! I was looking in the library for the full hard drive, not for my user.
