/set on local servers

Post by Benji »

How can I change variables using /set when I am on my own offline server playing with bots? When I enter a /set command I am told I do not have permission. But if Im not on a online public server then how do I not have permission to change something?

add a password to your config
-password mypass

and then in-game type in "/password mypass"
this will give you full admin rights. (including set)

set away!

make sure you use -password as a flag for bzfs, not bzflag, like -world or -conf

Code: Select all

 /path/to/bzfs/ -world "myawesomeworld.bzw" -password ilovecats
then in-game, use /password <yourpassword> to get admin rights.

If you're just testing a map locally, you could also create a groupdb such as the following:

Code: Select all

EVERYONE: actionMessage date endGame flagHistory flagMaster flagMod idleStats kick kill lagStats privateMessage rejoin say setVar shutdownServer spawn superKill talk
That's the one I used for my BZWTestLauncher program. Then all you have to do is pass the correct file/path to -groupdb and then join the server. You'll be able to run set, reset flags, and so on.
