Newest ATi Drivers on Windows faulty for BZ

Post by Dr Robotnik »

Well, I recently updated my Phenom II box with the ATI 4200, and my P4 with an ATi 4600 to the newest ATi driver that adds hardware accelerated flash, etc. It breaks compatibility with BZ. How? Any map with custom textures fails. The textures turn into 1 color, or get stretched out. They are never tilled. Only the default textures work right.

I have messed with every setting, installed and uninstalled, yet I still cant get it to work right. Looks like my next card will be an nVidia due to the constant problems with OpenGL. Yet, DirectX works fine.

Do you have any screenshots demonstrating what is going on?

Here are some screen-shots of the odd issue.

Once I installed catalyst 10.6, which started the problem on the two PCs, even the old versions cause the problem.

Weird. I'd suggest doing a full uninstall of any ATI driver components, reboot, and then do a fresh install of them. Also get the latest version of DirectX 9 (saw somewhere that updating DirectX helped make some OpenGL games work - we do use DirectX for some stuff):

Oh, and I also have lots of fun with nVidia driver issues on my XP system. Seems like they never upgrade properly and I'm left with NO 3D acceleration at all. And then their uninstaller fails to remove the driver properly, so I end up having to get an older driver that will then remove the new driver, then uninstall the old driver, and finally installing the new driver again. So far I've had better luck on Windows 7, but I haven't had as many upgrades with that. ;)

After installing and reinstalling 20 times, I got the drivers to work.
Amazing how bad the driver system for ATI or Nvidia is. Never had a problem with Intels drivers :P
