Unable to see list server

Post by mustang() »

Hi,
I've upgraded to 2.4.0 and now cannot see any servers. Nothing else has changed as far as I know. Any reason why this might be? Maybe a different port number is used??

Just for context, you had said you were on Windows XP (your post went away since I had to restore the forum database from an earlier backup due to corruption). So, I'll repost my questions, since they went away as well. :)

What anti-virus and firewall do you have installed?

Did 2.4.0 ever get you a full list of servers?

Did you have BZFlag 2.0 on this computer as well?

Hi Blast,
yep I noticed you had db probs. The place I originally posted was sort of a hijack thing but its related :) I've got avg, spybot, and windows firewall is shut down. There is a firewall in the linksys router however. None of this gave me probs with my older version of BZ. Of course the auto updating could have uh, updated me.
No, 2.4.0 never gave me a list... yup had 2.0 at one time.
I'll try to disable all this stuff and see if I can localize the issue.
Thanks for the response... I'll post back if I manage to find something.

Oh, and I can access http://my.bzflag.org:81/db/ using my browser if that tells you anything. Maybe the bz client uses a different port number... dunno, that's why I'm posting :)

You can check your 2.4 config file. It's in a different spot than 2.0. Should be a line there that starts with "set list".

Yes it has the line. I tried clearing the cache again too. I renamed the cache file in that folder and it created a new one so I know its the right folder.

Or just remove it completely. The default should work just fine for you.
