Hi!

So i'm trying to run BZFlag release 2.4.2, yet it crashes every time upon launch.

This is my configuration currently:
• Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)
• '09 Macbook plugged into an I-Inc 28" Monitor (1920 x 1200 res.)

Each time I try launching BZFlag, I get this error message:

note: BZ runs flawlessly when launching from my Macbook, which raises some suspicions about my monitor.. :|

Any help would be appreciated!

- Auron

See here: http://forums.bzflag.org/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=18654

One of the devs made a client that may fix your crash issue, which was on page 2 of the discussion: http://forums.bzflag.org/viewtopic.php? ... 25#p167788

Awesome!

I'm seeing the color distortion (as mentioned by Daemon) when opening, but it doesn't last too long.

This is a great temporary fix.

Thanks blast, and Const!

The build with the color distortion is a highly experimental build using a brand new platform library. It is not the best client for regular use. If you're experiencing that crash, try the build posted toward the end of the first page of that thread for best results: http://download.bzflag.org/2.4.3/mac/BZ ... gamma2.zip

It's been over a year and a new OS X was released. For those looking, this 2.4.3 No Gamma2 build still works.

Oddly, I never suffered an issue under Mavericks or Yosemite until recently. Whatever is the reason, this build runs okay. I usually like to compile my own builds, so I wish I knew how to make this work for myself.

I believe this issue was fixed with the implementation of SDL 2 on our Mac OS X build. A recent build with this fix is at http://download.bzflag.org/2.4.3/mac/BZ ... 150520.zip, and you can also build from the latest code at github. If you build from source, you will also want to build SDL 2 from source using their latest mercurial development code, which has some fixes for toggling between windowed mode and fullscreen mode.
