I used to play some bzflag some months ago, now wanted to pick up again but I experience a strange issue which makes playing impossible:

When doing nothing my tank drives in a close left circle. The mouse is recognized (and works perfect outside BZFlag), shots are fired, but the sterring is locked to far left. I can navigate ok using the keyboard, but that is too slow, obviously.
Deleting the settings folder does not change anything.

I fail to understand what is going on and cannot find similar reports on the internet.
Anyone got a hint for me? Anyone experienced something similar?

What version of BZFlag are you using? What OS? and what version of SDL?

I tried different versions of bzflag, but typically 2.4.8.
The issue exists on a GNU/Linux system, Ubuntu-17.04@x86-64, different kernels.
I actually had two SDL libraries installed, 1.2 and 2.0. I removed 2.0 and rechecked, unormtunately no change. BZFlag is linked against 1.2.
